Winner: Baron Corbin

It may seem odd to consider The Lone Wolf as a winner when he didn’t even win his match on SmackDown this week. But more importantly than winning a match, Corbin sent a message – he’s not someone you want to cross.

More from Daily DDT

A week ago, Baron took things lightly when he faced Sin Cara in a non-title match. The US Champ lost via count out, embarrassing him and making him mad. So Corbin demanded a rematch with The Faceless Luchador this week. And taking things lightly wasn’t a mistake Corbin would make a second time.

The match was brutal – even when Sin Cara took a brief advantage, his suicide dives were hard hitting. But Corbin took over once again, and he was unbelievably ruthless. His ground and pound lasted a bit too long for the referee’s liking, and the match was called and awarded to Sin Cara via DQ.

Corbin didn’t seem to care, though once Greg Hamilton announced that Sin Cara won – again – Corbin finished things off with an End of Days on the arena floor. Having one of your champions continue to lose isn’t usually a good thing, but the bigger picture with Corbin is establishing him as a dominant force. Mission accomplished on that.
