Singles Match: Randy Orton vs Kevin Owens

Much like the Zayn and Nakamura, Owens and Orton will be looking for a new rivalry come Tuesday. And much like Zayn, Owens will undoubtedly get punished by Shane McMahon for his Survivor Series actions. And, much like Nakamura, Orton will be that punishment. And why not? This could be a solid feud, one that really hasn’t happened before.

More from Daily DDT

Outside of a singles match in July of 2015, a match which Orton won by disqualification, and a few scattered tag matches, these two have virtually no history. Clash of the Champions would be a great place to start what could be a very compelling rivalry between these two former world champions.

Orton and Owens always have a way of making their feuds personal and there’s no doubt that would be the case here. The animosity already began just over a week ago when the two traded verbal jabs on Twitter. It was a quick back and forth with Orton making fun of Owens weight along with being sent home from the European tour and “KO” making a reference about hoping that Orton quit the company. It was only a smidgen of what these two could produce given the right stage to do it.

But who knows what the future holds for Owens and Zayn. The aforementioned dismissal from the European tour which was confirmed by Dave Metzler from Wrestling Observer and Mike Johnson of PW Insider and was unofficially because of their complaints regarding creative direction and their refusal to “feed” for the New Day. So if that’s the case, the two best friends could be in the doghouse for awhile and these last two matches won’t happen. But if this has all blown over, this would be the best way to go for all involved.
