2. The Miz
Love him or hate him (I love him), The Miz has been one of the most successful superstars in the WWE for over a decade. In under six years, “The A-Lister” has become a WWE Grand Slam Champion and proved anybody who said that he didn’t have what it took to be a massive pro wrestling superstar wrong. He’s a former world champion, he’s main evented a Wrestlemania, and achieved almost every accolade that’s available in the WWE while also establishing himself as the best, pure heel in the company. His promos over the last few years have been nothing short of brilliant and make no mistake, he’s one of the most important members of roster for a litany of different reasons.
More from WWE
- Trish Stratus on WWE NXT would help elevate that women’s division
- Randy Orton signs with SmackDown to go after The Bloodline
- WWE and AEW will put on a full court press for Kazuchika Okada in 2024
- The Judgment Day is the top faction story in WWE
- Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley is perfect for WWE Royal Rumble 2024
But of all the accomplishments he’s reeled in, none have been as impressive as his numerous tenures as Intercontinental Champion. After a five month run as WWE Champion between 2010 and 2011, Miz set his sights on IC gold. And in less than five years, he’s racked up seven reigns as champion which is second all time to Jericho. His 523 combined days as champ ranks him at number 3 all time behind Muraco and Pedro Morales. He’s essentially been Intercontinental Champion for a third of the past five years. Talk about dominance.
Like many others on this list, Miz has done some of his best work while wearing the Intercontinental Championship. His wars with the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, and Kofi Kingston helped revitalize a title that went a bit dormant before he got involved. And who can’t forget his masterpiece with Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Cesaro at the 2016 Extreme Rules when the quartet put on one of the best fatal 4-way’s of all time?
The Miz may be a slow burn. But he’s currently one of the WWE’s very best superstars and an argument can be made that he’s the best Intercontinental champ of all time.
