WWE Raw: Title Change on Christmas Day (SPOILERS)

On a relatively quiet episode of WWE Raw, there was a huge title change during the show. Spoilers ahead, read at your own risk.

The first live Christmas Day episode of WWE Raw was largely uneventful. Nothing of major consequence happened for roughly two hours and fifty minutes. So as episodes of Raw go, it was nothing more than average – if even that good.

But the last few minutes, things really picked up. The main event was the second of two championship matches. When the dust settled, the title had changed hands. If you haven’t watched Raw yet, you may want to click away from this story until you see it. There be spoilers ahead…

Still here? Okay, good. The main event pitted Raw Tag Team Champions Sheamus and Cesaro against Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan. Seth’s usual tag partner of late, Dean Ambrose, is out with an injury for up to nine months. So Jordan is a stepping in for the time being.

The match was a solid back and forth affair, with The Bar controlling a large portion of the match. Rollins was in the ring for much of the contest, finally tagging Jordan in towards the tail end of the match. And the young superstar withstood the offense dished out by both the Swiss Cyborg and the Celtic Warrior.

But Rollins came to his senses and was able to provide a bit of a distraction. Sheamus went shoulder first into the steel steps, and a shocked Cesaro was caught with an Olympic Slam by Jordan, showing shades of his father Kurt Angle. That was enough to earn a three count, and we have new Tag Team Champions on Raw.

Rollins is now a two time Raw Tag Team Champion, and a three time tag champ overall. Jordan becomes a two time tag champ himself – once with Chad Gable on SmackDown Live, and now with Rollins. It’s a sign that Jordan may be taking the next step in his career after his move from the SmackDown roster over to Team Red.

With the Royal Rumble still roughly a month away, there’s a lot of time for this story to continue to develop. Rollins has faced either Sheamus or Cesaro almost every episode of Raw since like June, but this wrinkle freshens things up a bit.
