Could Enzo Amore And Big Cass Cash In On Their Past History?
Enzo Amore and Big Cass have both seen their days with the WWE come to an end. But there’s an opportunity for them to milk out their history together across the independent scene.
Professional wrestling news was coming very fast this week. One of the more intriguing bits that came up was the releasing of Big Cass that occurred after SmackDown Live on Tuesday. A lot of people were surprised, but no one responded in such a way that made it seem like the WWE was losing a tremendous talent. But what the WWE loses the independent circuit gains. In today’s professional wrestling industry, where social media is king, the question now becomes whether or not we could see some sort of “reunion” of sorts between Big Cass and his former tag team partner, Enzo A’more.
Rewind the clock back one year when Enzo and Cass were one of the hottest acts in WWE. Even before being called up to the main roster, their group (plus Carmella) had a huge following in NXT. They were moving merchandise at a rate that was one of the fastest in the organization; adding residual funds into their pockets. Even though they never captured gold in NXT or on Raw, Cass and Enzo were recognized as fan favorites that the WWE could push for fans of all ages.
Then things started to fall apart. Cass and Enzo were split and both men started to have their own backstage struggles. Cass tore his ACL in a match with Enzo, forcing him to surgery that would bring his year to a close. Even before that, he found heat sent his way due to his willingness to openly support President Donald Trump. While that doesn’t seem like an egregious issue; it was enough to make him less-than popular in the locker room.
Enzo dealt with his own issues that eventually caused him to part ways with the company. Everyone who follows the team is well aware of his issues with other members in the locker room. But it was the disturbing accusations of sexual assault that cause the organizations to suspend and quickly terminate his contract. Enzo vehemently denied the charges and turned his ire toward the wrestling industry for the initial response to the charges. Even though the charges were eventually dropped, the entire situation further tainted Enzo’s status within the industry.

That brings us to today. Both men are sitting outside of the WWE and assuming there’s an interest to continue in the world of entertainment; there’s an opportunity for these two men to find themselves working together in some fashion. This won’t be an easy occurrence, as there are a number of hurdles that would need to be surpassed.
First, one must find an organization that’s willing to hire both men. Cass isn’t as much of a toxic hire; as he has a lot of upside in the business and it’s easy to see an organization being willing to add him to the roster.
But the same can’t be said about Enzo. Whether he was found guilty or not, Enzo’s allegations come with a stigma that will follow him for the rest of the career. If a promotion was to pick him up they should brace themselves for some form of backlash within the professional wrestling industry.
Then, there’s whether or not Enzo and Cass will be willing to work together in the future. Back when Big Cass was injured during a match against Enzo; the former teammates found themselves bickering over the situation. Enzo took to Twitter to call out Cass for not being able to finish the match, while Cass called Enzo’s comments “classless.” Regardless of whose side you may be on, it’s clear that both men are at odds with one another and it would take a great deal of communication to bring them back to the same page with the potential to work together either as a team or against one another.

In the past, we’ve seen relationships repaired after worst transgressions than what has gone down between Big Cass and Enzo Amore. While we may not ever see them in a WWE ring again, that doesn’t mean there isn’t an independent promotion that would be willing to take a risk and get them back together. There’s a lot of work to be done before reaching that goal, but if done correctly, it would surely garner a lot of attention within the professional wrestling scene.
