2. Royal Rumble
Other than the two Rumble matches, there wasn’t too much to get excited about on this show. However, the Rumbles delivered in a HUGE way, making this one of the best WWE PPVs of 2018 so far.
The Good:
Both the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches were absolutely fantastic. The men’s was booked to near perfection and featured several awesome surprises. Rey Mysterio came out at #27 to an enormous ovation from the Philadelphia crowd. Also, Adam Cole and Andrade Cien Almas made cameos from NXT. Balor’s 57 minute iron man performance was probably the highlight of the match.
The women’s rumble was just as good. Featuring standout performances from Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch, as well as a wealth of surprise appearances from some of the greatest, most influential women’s wrestlers of all time.

The Meh:
Styles vs Owens & Zayn was pretty good, it just felt like a bit of a wasted opportunity. I think most fans would’ve preferred a classic singles match between Styles and EITHER Zayn or Owens. Then, the 2/3 falls match between The Usos and Benjamin & Gable was pretty solid as well.
The Bad:
Rollins and Jordan vs The Bar should’ve been a lot better, but Jordan’s injury along with its placement on the card really hindered it. Roode’s open challenge also should’ve been better, but Mojo Rawley answered it as all of Philly groaned in unison. Finally, Kane vs Strowman vs Lesnar was as loud and empty as a Michael Bay flick, and the preshow as a whole was a bore.
In conclusion… People don’t love The Royal Rumble PPV for tag team action or even big championship matches. They love it for the Rumble(s), and these were easily two of the best in a while. So much fun.
