Boy, Stephanie Looks TERRIBLE

Just kidding, that’s Vince McMahon in the ring to bring out his progeny. Of course, the only way WWE knows how to “make history” is by having the entire locker room on the stage, so the whole crew is assembled. (Hey, anyone else catch Nikki Cross up there?)

Interestingly, Triple H is out there along with Stephanie McMahon. Wonder if he’s there with Vince as a bit of damage control. There’s always a feeling that Stephanie “takes over” big moments by inserting herself in the middle of them. I mean, she did jumpstart the Women’s Revolution, after all.

After a bit, Triple H calls the women on the roster to the front of the stage. It took me a minute to notice, but the women on the SmackDown roster were also present here. Nice touch, truly.

Then Stephanie takes the mic after Triple H chokes up praising the efforts of the women in WWE over the past few years. Stephanie continues to sing their praises before making the announcement we’ve all been waiting for. That theory about the all-women’s pay per view event? It was true: On October 28, from basically my hometown in the Nassau Coliseum, WWE will present “Evolution,” featuring 50 women superstars from the past and present.

While some will likely find something to criticize about the announcement — Stephanie inserted herself again, it’s not really equality if the women aren’t competing against the men, etc. — it’s a great move. There’s more than enough talent to make it happen, so why not pull the trigger? Especially if we’re getting the finals of the Mae Young Classic, too.

Also, gonna need to buy tickets for this show. Huge, historic, major pay per view less than an hour from my house? You better believe I’ll be there!
