Raw Women’s Championship Match
Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Ronda Rousey
Result: Ronda Rousey defeated Alexa Bliss via submission to become the NEW Raw Women’s Champion
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
The trouble here was Chekhov’s Divas at ringside. Yeah yeah, we don’t use the Divas word around these parts any more, but with the Bellas at ringside (as they announced earlier in the night) and rumors swirling of a possible match in the works for WWE Evolution in October, I spent the whole match waiting for the other shoe to drop.

But there was nothing to fear during the relatively short match itself. Rousey dominated throughout, and there was never really any doubt about who was going to win this one. And Ronda got to show a little personality in a match for the first time, goading Bliss into a free shot more than once.
There wasn’t really much to the match, as it was so short. Rousey’s judo throws are ridiculous, but now that we’re four matches into her WWE career and she’s got a title to defend, let’s get her some new wrestling moves. And as good as she’s been so far, it’s important to remember that she is still pretty green — she kind of got to Cena volumes calling some spots tonight.
However, since the point of this one was seeing Bliss locked in the arm bar, that was the focus. Alexa’s double jointedness came in handy to make it look appropriately, disgustingly devastating. A quick tapout led to a celebration with Natalya, the Bellas, and her husband, then that was that for Rousey.
It’ll be interesting to see who her first title defense is against — will Bliss get a rematch, or will everyone just move on? Raw should be interesting tomorrow.
