Special Singles Match: EVIL vs Zack Sabre Jr
ZSJ is good in all situations, but he’s just the absolute best at being a cocky, prick heel, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed him leaning into that side of his character for the build to this match. He’s picked up a pair of opportunistic pinfalls over EVIL in undercard tag matches recently, and has followed up with loads of taunting and trash talk. He’s done everything possible to get under EVIL’s skin, and has been extremely successful. Now, after weeks of frustration, The King of Darkness has a chance to blow off some steam and shut up his annoying new rival. It should be loads of fun.
All signs point to EVIL vs Jericho sometime between now and Wrestle Kingdom and, if that’s the case, the big man can’t afford a loss here. ZSJ will definitely have a great showing, but EVIL will show that he’s learned from his mistakes by decisively defeating The Technical Wizard.
Prediction: EVIL

These two had one of the better matches of this year’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament, so I’m extremely excited to see what they’re able to do here on a bigger stage for the championship. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they were to tear the house down and steal the entire show.
This match is probably the most difficult to predict on the card. Both guys looked great in the semifinals and have plenty of momentum to justify picking up the title. It really comes down to who the company thinks would make the better champ heading into Wrestle Kingdom for a big defense. The Villain is awesome. He’s shown great intensity lately, and a championship match against Ishimori would be an excellent way to further the Elite vs Bullet Club OGs saga, but I feel like NJPW is going to want to default to KUSHIDA. He’s been the cornerstone of division for years and it just feels like the right move at this point.
