Impact Wrestling Review: LAX Ends The Cease Fire Early
In the go-home episode of Impact Wrestling, it didn’t really look like anyone was in a rush to get to Bound for Glory, except of course, for LAX.
The build up to Bound for Glory culminated tonight on Impact Wrestling. LAX and The OGz’ feud is stronger than ever, while many of the other matches set for Sunday didn’t do as good a job pumping us up for the action.
Trevor Lee and Petey Williams had a bit of a moment last week after Petey tried to have a little moment with Scarlett Bordeaux courtesy of the Canadian Destroyer. Now, we’ve got a match between those two, plus other Bord-hopefuls (forgive me) Puma King and Jack Evans. Don Callis called Petey Williams a pervert, or a “pre-vert”, rather, and most of the action is one-on-one between any two of the four men at once.
Even with a tremendous showing from Puma King, Petey Williams wins with a, well what do ya know, a Canadian Destroyer on Trevor Lee. I at first believed the winner of this match may prove to be Scarlett’s new protégé, but I’m hesitant to believe they’d make that call.
Rich Swann is interviewed backstage, and he talks about Matt Sydal and Ethan Page’s friendship. He’s not concerned about their “illuminati” ways, because he’s found a partner that is his equal, not someone he can influence – it’s Willie Mack!
Here comes the Grado train, and he’s here for a match with Maximo, who Don Callis refers to as “The Mexican Grado”. Maximo uses every spot he can to make Grado uncomfortable, and Grado is visibly put off. Maximo wins with a kiss and a distracted pin. Grado, not to be outdone, gives Maximo a kiss, knocking him on his backside and Grado storms out of the ring.
Eli Drake is bringing his open challenge to The Big Apple, and it’s only open to wrestlers from New York. My mind drifts to (my favorite wrestler) Tommy Dreamer. Is he available?

The Desi Hit Squad has a match against… each other? Yep, and the loser is out of the Hit Squad for good and heading to India. Nothing about this match reads as natural, story-wise, physically. Don Callis called this match “like the Hunger Games”, and while that’s an exaggeration, it definitely doesn’t seem fun at all. Rohit Raju is victories, and Gursinder Singh is out of the Squad. Gama Singh doesn’t look happy though, and he essentially beats Rohit out of the ring.
Impact/Edwards/Fallah vs. Kross/Aries/Moose is surprisingly not the main event. Aries Crew also has a combined entrance now, so there’s that. The match is even, not unlike anything we’ve seen from these men before. I wish I could say more about it, but the match just wasn’t gripping out of pure redundancy; I feel like I’ve seen this all before. Aries Crew proves victorious, and Aries holds the Impaction World Championship high above his head looking towards Bound For Glory.
Allie vs. Su Yung is on for Bound for Glory, and Allie’s looking to make a deal with the actual devil to go back down into the undead realm, where half of her soul lies. She needs coffin open on Sunday so she can pull Keira Hogan back through to the living realm. She’ll get her chance to save her friend this Sunday.
Tessa Blanchard goes one-on-one with Keyra, who according to Callis and Matthews is considered “pound-for-pound one of the best wrestlers in Mexico”. A huge running powerbomb from Tessa says she doesn’t really care about that. Tessa makes moderately quick work of Keyra.
LAX and the OGz are in the ring for their summit. King is in up in Konnan’s face immediately of course, and he calls him a dog who needs to be put down (it was a little more graphic than that). Konnan gives his promo in Spanish, with much support of the Mexican crowd. It’s about this time I’m wishing I didn’t take three years of Latin in high school, but Konnan translates that all he has to do is say the word, and this crowd would rush the ring in support of him. Konnan also announces that the cease-fire is officially OVER, and LAX attacks the OGz to end the show.
Bound For Glory will air this Sunday, October 14th on the FITE network and is available to order now. Follow along with us live Sunday on Twitter @FansidedDDT!
