Batista Teases A Match Against Triple H

The WWE Universe has been hoping for Batista to return to the company for one final run, and Batista has made it clear that he wants to return to WWE. However, he wants his last run with the company to involve a program with Triple H, who was his old stablemate in Evolution.

When the “reunion” promo with Batista, Triple H, Randy Orton, and Ric Flair began on WWE SmackDown 1000, the tension between “The Animal” and “The Cerebral Assassin” was palpable. When Batista took to the microphone, he spoke glowingly about SmackDown, his love for wrestling, and his love for entertaining the audience regardless of the outcome of the match or their jeers.

But the lengthy, heartfelt promo was built to set up one final jab at Triple H. After praising “The King of Kings” for being the business, he turned it around. Batista noted that while Triple H has accomplished everything in WWE as a 14-time champion, he’s never defeated “The Animal”.

For the most part, fans would prefer to see the stars of today shine, rather than stars of the past soaking up main events. It’s a sentiment echoed by current superstars like Seth Rollins, even as WWE used Kane and The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels and Triple H as an important part of its programming this month.

That said, if WWE were to take advantage of the fans’ nostalgia for the past without hurting any of the current stars, Batista vs. Triple H would be a fantastic matchup for any Big Four Pay Per View, including WrestleMania itself. Batista planted the seed, the fans are clearly interested, and there’s still unfinished business between the two of them.

We’ve seen Triple H put over wrestlers like Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at recently WrestleManias, but he does need to go over some notable names in order to keep those matches unpredictable. Batista seems perfectly willing to lose to Triple H in an entertaining match with an even more headline-grabbing build-up, so it would make plenty of sense for the two to square off on a big stage. I mean, Batista has earned at least that much as his final send-off after a truly spectacular career in WWE.
