WWE: 5 Cruiserweight vs. Heavyweight Dream Matches

Buddy Murphy vs. AJ Styles
Buddy Murphy needed a rebranding if he was going to find his place on the WWE roster. The tag team of Blake and Murphy fell apart and he was floundering on the NXT roster. He saw an opportunity on 205 Live and that opportunity proved to be right as he’s become the cruiserweight champion.
But what is more important is that Murphy has been involved in some of the best matches that WWE has had to offer in all of 2018. He can continue to build his resume of great matches and one such way of doing so would be against the one and only, AJ Styles.
A special additive for this bout is the idea that it can further the feud between both AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan, along with the feud between Buddy Murphy and Mustafa Ali. All it takes is the narrative that Murphy is appearing on SmackDown live to do what Ali couldn’t and defeat a top name on SmackDown.
But instead of going after Bryan, he would show that he’s superior than both Ali and Bryan by defeating AJ Styles, clean in the ring. Pushing a story such as that would help drive the competitive narrative between the four men and present some additional opportunities in the future.
Buddy Murphy is a clear example of what happens when a talent is given the opportunity to flourish out of a position they were placed in. Murphy is one of the breakout stars of 2018 and continues to show that he’s a name to watch within the WWE. He can continue to build that aura with a special match on the main roster and a name like AJ Styles would be the exact type of opponent that would help showcase his abilities on one of the WWE’s main stages.
