10. Pete Dunne, Ricochet, and War Raiders (Hanson and Rowe) vs. Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong)- WarGames Match (NXT TakeOver: WarGames II)

After tinkering with the format in 2017, the NXT creative team returned the match to its roots — sort of — by placing two teams of four in the two-cage structure instead of three teams of three. As a result, WWE’s second use of arguably JCP/WCW’s greatest gimmick match turned out much better than the first go-round.

Ricochet and Cole started things off and picked up where they left off a few months earlier at the Barclays Center, including a breathtaking leap by Ricochet from one ring to the other to nail Cole with a European uppercut.

Of course, the other members of the UE brought the psychology. Already armed with the man advantage, Bobby Fish improved their odds even further when he locked Pete Dunne inside one of the shark cages situated on the stage (a clever way to limit Dunne’s involvement, as he suffered a legit injury prior to the show).

Once Dunne finally entered the cage, the two quartets kicked things up a notch. In between all the weapon shots and the War Raiders’ brutal combo offense, the North American Champion uncorked an insane reverse 630 senton from the top of the cage!

The finish was a bit flat, as Dunne and Ricochet collectively covered Cole for the deciding pinfall as something of a capper to their three-way feud. But the match lived up to its billing, even if it resembled a high-end version of Impact’s old Lethal Lockdown match more than the original concept.
