4. Tribute To Mean Gene Okerlund Was Wonderfully Done

When it comes to pro wrestling, there are those household names and recognizable faces that everyone knows even if they aren’t wrestling fans. Mean Gene Okerlund is one of those characters and with his passing just a few days ago, the wrestling world is in mourning.

Mean Gene is one of the most recognizable pro wrestling figures of all-time, and widely considered to be the greatest announcer in the business.  His impact cannot be denied, and last night was all about honoring Mean Gene when one of his closest companions led the tribute, The Immortal Hulk Hogan.

Hogan hadn’t been on WWE Raw in a few years and he has been one of the most controversial figures in wrestling lately, but his work last night was tremendous in his honoring of Mean Gene.  He came out in character because he said Mean Gene would have wanted it that way, but he soon turned to his real-life character and became emotional when talking about Mean Gene.

A wonderful video tribute was shown as well, documenting just a touch of what Mean Gene accomplished in the pro wrestling business.  Hogan ended the segment with a promo perfectly fitting for Mean Gene and fellow fallen wrestling greats.

This tribute was so well-done and despite your personal feelings towards Hogan these days, he did a great job of honoring Mean Gene.

The wrestling world will never be the same again with the loss of Mean Gene, but his legacy will live on forever.
