Recent WWE rumors indicate that several superstars want out of the promotion and have contacted AEW, but unfortunately, that won’t change anything.

The emergence of AEW has not only provided an entertaining alternative to WWE, but has sparked countless WWE rumors as well, all of which going hand-in-hand with what we have been hearing about the company in recent months.

Respected wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that a “mind-blowing” amount of WWE Superstars have contacted AEW due to the company’s momentum after its first show (h/t Bleacher Report).

This makes sense. AEW certainly has momentum after its first show that was very well received both critically and financially. For many wrestling fans, this has been the exact thing that the wrestling world has lacked and certainly has caused more interest in wrestling as a whole as a result.

There is finally a company that is big enough and has the funds to be on WWE’s level while also producing the quality matches that wrestling fans have grown accustomed to on the indy scene.

While true wrestling fans shouldn’t want to see WWE fail, as wrestling is better when WWE is at its best, there is a sense of optimism around these reports that several Superstars want out of the company.

Not only are fans going to see some of their favorite wrestlers get broken free from their current shackles, but there is the hope that all of this displeasure is sending a message to WWE brass that something has to change.

It has been no secret recently, especially after Jon Moxley’s appearance on Talk is Jericho, that the creative process is broken and that everything goes through Vince McMahon, who is out of touch with what the fans want in 2019.

The problem is that these WWE rumors will not change anything. It does not matter to Vince that some low mid-card talents and undercard talents that probably aren’t even being used want out of the company.

Heck, when he was Dean Ambrose, Moxley was one of WWE’s biggest stars and his departure and voiced displeasure with the company didn’t change anything. CM Punk leaving didn’t change anything. All of the wrestlers that have gone back to the indies has not changed anything.

It will not matter to Vince until AEW starts catching the company in TV ratings and we are still a long ways away from that. Unless it is Roman Reigns knocking on his door demanding a release, it won’t change much.

Vince obviously recognizes AEW and that was apparent after Sami Zayn mentioned the company by name on Monday Night Raw. However, right now, it appears as if Vince just looks down on AEW as not a real threat.

If and when these wrestlers leave, it will just be viewed as their problem, not his. Unfortunately for wrestling fans, that takes away the entire benefit of having competition.
