PC: Turning to Fight the Power on July 12 at the Guillotine in San Antonio, what do you think people should be most excited to see at that show and what can we expect from New Jack?
DD: I mean, you kind of answered your question there. The thing I’m most excited to see is New Jack in a Heavy Metal ring. I mean, obviously, New Jack is without a doubt one of, if not the most, infamous figure in pro wrestling, and for good reason. Just being able to see him come out to Heavy Metal Wrestling.

Cause I’m all about moments, man. That’s how we do things in Heavy Metal. All I like is moments. I’m not always necessarily concerned with how good a match was or the technical aspects of matches. I mean, that’s important, obviously, but what I’m more concerned with are moments in matches. Almost like memories.
We’re gonna have one of those moments for sure on July 12th at Fight the Power when New Jack’s music hits and he comes out and obliterates everybody. Because that’s just something that not a lot of places in the area are going to be able to bring you. Fight the Power’s gonna be nuts, man.
Not only is New Jack in the house, we’ve got “All Ego” Ethan Page, Impact Wrestling superstar, taking on Gino, who is—Ethan Page is one of the best in the independent wrestling scene right now, but I mean, “The Latin Hearthrob” Gino, it’s a travesty that more people aren’t aware of just how good Gino is. And hopefully, a match like what we’re gonna see now, on the 12th, is gonna hopefully take Gino to another level. Give him a little more exposure to a different crowd so they can see just what everyone in Texas has known for so long. He’s just so talented.
PC: We know New Jack will be there, but who are some of the amazing local talents fans can watch for at Fight the Power?
DD: Honestly man, because we have so many, we run so many events man, we’ve been able to cultivate so many new guys and kind of see them, I guess, see them in a different light and see what they actually bring to the table. But some of the best local talent, Great Scott, otherwise known as Scotty Santiago, who has done work with Reality of Wrestling, is here in San Antonio.
He has basically been able to up his game to the next level by being able to work with us. He’s our current Bexar Knuckles Champion and has been for a while. There’s “The Heavy Metal Berserker” Ruben Steele, who basically personifies everything that Heavy Metal Wrestling is. He’s hardcore, he’s a little grimy and dirty and rough around the edges, but the fans still love him.
There’s guys like Joe DeMaro from Austin who is less than a year into pro wrestling, and Joe has basically been able to use Heavy Metal Wrestling as a way of getting in weekly reps. And it’s changed his game from being just an ordinary wrestler to being someone that has tremendous upside. Using the weekly shows is a huge, huge advantage for these guys, cause a lot of these guys wouldn’t have that opportunity elsewhere. Being able to work on things once a week.
PC: How much of a difference does it make for them to be able to compete that often at a live show rather than just a practice?
DD: You can’t substitute a live audience, or a live crowd. I know a lot of people that are thrilled to be able to have Heavy Metal Wrestling as a platform, because we are running weekly shows. So that means that guys are getting the opportunity to basically wrestle once a week, and the more opportunities that you get to be in the ring, the better. Sometimes guys will go three weeks, four weeks, a month before they’re in the ring again, just because that’s kind of the nature of the beast. But the way we do things, you’ll always have another opportunity right around the corner.
