PC: Do you think you can win the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for Best Wrestling Book for a record-shattering third time?

BA: I don’t know. There’s like a lot of great books, you know? I was surprised that the book won a second time. Because one of Jericho’s books came out that year, and it was a really good book, and both of our books were in the running. And I was sort of like “you know, this book already won, and I think it’s great, and it’s much bigger, but it won once. His book is out. He wrote a great book. There’s no way this book is gonna win.” But it did!

And I haven’t really looked at what other books came out this year, but in 2004 there weren’t a ton of wrestling books. And in 2014 or whatever when the 10-year anniversary edition came out, there were a lot more books. And now it just seems like there’s tons of wrestling books that are out all the time. Like if you go to Amazon and look at like the top wrestling books.

I mean, there’s so many books. And not just books by major publishers, but there’s a million self-published books. And a lot of people put their books up there under Kindle Unlimited, so you don’t even have to pay for the book basically to read it if you’ve got Kindle Unlimited. So there’s so many books. So many people reading so many books. I would love for it to win, but who knows?

PC: Will this be your final book, or should we never say never to seeing another?

BA: It depends. I mean, I certainly am not averse to writing another book. I don’t wanna do it tomorrow, but I don’t feel now like I felt after Death of WCW. Where it was like “dude, no more, I’m never doing this again.” I have a child. Our next baby is due September 22nd, so if somebody came to me today, I’m telling ‘em no.

But, a year from now, when this baby’s sleeping, it’s very likely if somebody approached me, I would do another one. I don’t know what I would do it about, though. I’ve done one about WCW. I’ve done this one about WWE. I don’t wanna do the TNA book. So, it would have to be something that I thought would be really interesting.
