AEW has shown a deep commitment to the art of tag team wrestling, but it’s The Lucha Bros, not The Young Bucks, who have proven themselves to be the best tag team in the world.

The Lucha Bros have been silent assassins since arriving in AEW: workmanlike with their performances and allowing their in-ring work to do their talking for them. Meanwhile, The Young Bucks are known for being their polar opposites. They’re brash, cocky, and ever so ready to run their mouths at the drop of a hat.

All the while, ever so quick to tell you that they have been “The Best Tag Team in the World” for the last ten years. Styles make matches, that’s what makes these two tag teams’ multiple encounters so special. After a victory in “Escalera De La Muerta” at AEW All Out, we can declare The Lucha Bros the world’s best tag team.

According to databases, the lifetime series of head to head matches between The Lucha Bros and The Young Bucks was tied at three wins for each team. It resembles what you would see in the NBA playoffs. So the ladder match was the climatic and thrilling conclusion to a seven-match series that has spanned over three years and two countries. These two tag teams know each other so well and the chemistry you see in the ring is a testament to just that.

We could go into all of the adjectives to describe one of, if not the greatest ladder matches of all time. Death-defying stunts off ladders and a crisp pace made this much watch television. Scintillating, sensational and awesome with a capital A come to my mind. In that 7th and decisive meeting (for now), The Lucha Bros were able to upend their nemesis and retain their AAA tag team championships.

Lists change over the course of time. Wrestlers age year by year and new stars are created to replace them. I am by no means calling The Young Bucks old. (See what I did there?)

They have been mainstays in the wrestling for a long time. The Jackson Brothers are still in their early thirties, they by no means are done being one of the very best tag teams on the planet.

This is where we factor in newer blood at the top. Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix have been a tag team for only three years. Their journey has been well chronicled by pundits in the wrestling industry. The Lucha Bros have been tag team champions in MLW, IMPACT, PWG and twice in their home promotion AAA. With such a beautiful dynamic of charisma and innovative offense, The Lucha Bros have earned their rightful place at the top of the tag team mountain.

Nick and Matt Jackson grabbed microphones in Las Vegas, Nevada at the AEW company rally in early February. They declared that All Elite Wrestling would prominently feature tag team wrestling. AEW has had no shortage of two-on-two matchups in the few events that they have broadcasted.

Teams such as SCU, The Dark Order, Best Friends, and A Boy and His Dinosaur are among some of the talents that have been showcased. These matches have been entertaining and are bringing back the popularity of tag team wrestling.

For quite some time, the days of The Steiner Brothers, Legion of Doom, and Hart Foundation have been longed for by fans. Two to three decades later, AEW has collected some of, if not the best tag teams in the world.

Next. Strowman vs Rollins shouldn't end clean. dark

When LAX crashed the aftermath of the ladder match, the wrestling world rejoiced. You now have the three tag teams who are most talked about as the best in the wrestling industry under one umbrella. While the Young Bucks and LAX are two incredible duos, The Lucha Bros staked their claim as the best in the World at AEW All Out for the time being.

Where the AEW tag team wrestling scene goes remains a story untold. The AEW tag team championship tournament will begin on All Elite Wrestling’s television show on October 2nd. With their performance in the most exciting match on the AEW All Out card, The Lucha Bros should be looked at as heavy favorites in the tournament to determine the first AEW Tag Team Champions in the company’s history. Look for Rey Fenix and Pentagon to show ‘Cero Miedo’ and continue establishing their resume as the best tag team in the world.
