5.  Replace the concept of “Call-ups” with “Trades”

To continue with all the sports talk, let’s make any switching of brands feel like a big deal instead of random sorting.

Every sport typically has a period of trade and some deadline to accompany it. In a way, WWE adhered to their own deadline with “Call-ups” typically happening after Mania. The “Wildcard Rule” has decimated this, so we need to kill it and move to this style of switching wrestlers from their drafted/assigned brand.

When you think of WWE, there is a period of time that is celebrated and built up every year, and that is the “Road to WrestleMania.” It is also consistent that WrestleMania typically is the peak of viewership, followed by a sharp dip in ratings.

The “Trade Window” should be the Monday after Mania until the end of February. That way, interest can be built, and the first PPV post-Mania can showcase the newly acquired talent.

This can also build storylines to help elevate talent that isn’t seen as “worthy.” Drew McIntrye was traded for Buddy Murphy and Ali? Well, Murphy and Ali both feel they are just as good as McIntryre so they decide to step their game up.
