WWE SmackDown January 10th full card preview and predictions
John Morrison Returns on Miz TV
A little over a month after WWE confirmed on their Backstage show on FOX that they re-signed him, John Morrison made his long-awaited onscreen return to WWE TV.
Granted, smiling and opening The Miz’s locker room door sounds a bit more like an anti-climactic whimper than starting things off with a bang, but hey, it’s Morrison’s first SmackDown appearance in over 10 years. His return was always going to be big news regardless of how big or small the dose that bang was.
The bang suddenly got bigger when WWE revealed that John Morrison will not only appear on tonight’s episode of SmackDown, but will guest star on his former tag team partner’s talk show, Miz TV. We all knew that this encounter between former onscreen friends and rivals was always going to be inevitable sooner or later (it’s a no brainer that writes itself), and the fact that it’s happening straight out the gate is interesting.
However, fans of the duo should not expect a reunion. It’s not impossible and getting the band back together is a no brainer in itself, so I wouldn’t rule it out completely. But because it seems so obvious, and given Miz’s newfound post-Fiend aggression, I find it hard to imagine happening right now.
If I had to guess how this segment would go, I imagine they reminisce about the good ole days for a bit before Morrison reminds Miz that he used to be fun back in the day. Morrison suggests getting the band (and maybe The Dirt Sheet) back together to help remind Miz of how fun he used to be and get his mind off The Fiend.
It’s possible that The Miz accepts the offer and the breakup ends up being a slow burn, but because it’s something we all see coming, I think the swerve is Miz attacking Morrison on his first night back.
Prediction: The Miz attacks Morrison
