Jon Moxley and Brodie Lee’s careers have been linked from the beginning. Using one another to showcase technical mat skills and a willingness to draw blood, WWE fans were excited to see them both brought into the fold only to become watered-down reproductions of themselves.
AEW has already proven that it is willing to allow performers to be who they want in the ring. Giving both these gentlemen the freedom to express the story they want in the way they want will serve to show just how talented they both are.
The stories that could be told surrounding their explosive reunion in AEW and ultimate clash could be the thing that cements the promotions legacy and invigorates both men’s claims to be top talent guys.
AEW, unlike WWE, needs to feed into and use the history of these performers past simply because at just over a year old, the company does not have a past of its own to draw on.
It would be an incredible disservice to both fan and performer if Brodie Lee were to début against Moxley for the company to choose to present this as a first time meeting. History is not a bad thing. Context gives us a reason to care.
