This was the first official title change in AEW’s short history and surprised the wrestling world by putting the titles on members of ‘The Elite’, Adam Page and Kenny Omega.
Fans in attendance on the Jericho Cruise were treated to a fast-paced match between two sides who are very familiar with each other.
While SCU, Page, and Omega almost gave us a five star match, the story mainly focused on ‘The Elite’ coming together amidst Page’s seemingly impeccable alcohol tolerance and unwillingness to celebrate his success with his stablemates.
Page and Omega winning the title will serve as a platform to serve up Hangman’s inevitable heel turn at ‘Revolution’.
Nothing is set up as of yet, but one could assume we’ll be seeing a rematch with SCU at the end of the month and that’s where Page will officially walk out on his Elite counterpart. Regardless of what happens and when, I don’t think we’ll be seeing ‘The Elite’ draped in the snakeskin straps for much longer.
