We are one month into the new year and 2020 is already proving to be a big year for WWE Superstar Ricochet. Mark my words – this is his year to conquer.

2019 was the year that Ricochet was called up to the main roster. Prior that, before NXT was officially anointed as WWE’s official third brand rather than a developmental program, the former North American Champion stood out as a star with breakout potential.

And breakout he did. One of his first Pay-Per-View matches was a show stealing SmackDown Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania that he played a huge part in making a show stealer. What followed was a United States Championship run and memorable matches/feuds with the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Randy Orton.

It is also worth mentioning that Ricochet proved to be WWE’s ultimate workhorse last year, wrestling 155 matches before the year ran up, more than any other WWE Superstar on any of their brand’s rosters in 2019. That’s big for someone in his rookie year on the main roster.

More from Daily DDT

2020 has already kicked off in style for Mr. One and Only. Not only has he found himself in the same ring as Brock Lesnar on multiple occasions, but he just earned himself a shot at the WWE Championship.

Ric’s momentum in WWE is at the highest it’s ever been. If his trajectory keeps going upward, I have a feeling that this is the year that Ricochet becomes a superstar.

No, not a WWE Superstar. He’s already a WWE Superstar – him and everyone else there is legally contracted to be a copyright branded hashtag “Superstar,” but I’m talking about a true, blue superstar world renowned and adored among the masses for his talents. In short, he will solidify himself as a main event player.

2019 saw the company put the ball in his court 155 times and without fail, he managed to impress and exceeded the expectations of the top brass. If he wrestled and showed out that many times as a midcarder, then surely, he must be on his way for an even bigger year as a main eventer.

Rey Mysterio already recently praised the guy in an interview, dubbing him as “the next Rey Mysterio.” While those are huge expectations to live up to and Ricochet himself was quick to rebuke that “there will NEVER be another Rey Mysterio,” Ricochet has potential to be WWE’s next little big man on campus.

The kind of fighting underdog whose character’s heart is bigger than his size may suggest and an aerial offense that dazzles the crowd enough to leave a timeless impression. Fans have already fallen in love with Ricochet over time. The more that WWE continue to push the young man, his potential is limitless.

We’ll see where he ends up by time 2020 is over, but right now at least, his future is bright.
