WWE WrestleMania 36 to have Casket Match for Undertaker vs. AJ Styles?
AJ Styles vs. The Undertaker for WWE WrestleMania 36 has been made official, but is it worth speculating that the match could turn into a Casket Match?
Well, maybe not official yet, in the kayfabe sense of the wording at least. Last night, AJ Styles challenged The Undertaker to a match at WWE WrestleMania 36, but they will be having a contract signing on next week’s episode of Raw to make the match officially official. In kayfabe, nothing is official until someone’s signed on the dotted line right before getting chokeslammed through a table.
Before any kind of table slamming commences, however, do not be surprised if a special match type is announced for the bout: a Casket Match.
During his promo last night, The Phenomenal One specifically said that he will “literally put the nail in [The Undertaker’s] coffin” at Mania. A few fans and critics – including journalist Gary Cassidy – were keen enough to catch the line and speculate on the possibility that it could hint at some sort of foreshadowing.
The bigger question here is should it be a Casket Match?

If you ask me (which, no one has, but I’ll throw in my two cents anyway), I think that would be the best call.
Many of us already saw Styles get pinned in mere seconds by Taker (without even needing to take off his hat and coat, no less) at Super ShowDown a couple of weeks back, so many of us are not sold on the idea that Styles could pin Taker in an actual match.
There is no drama there, but the idea in a win for Styles suddenly becomes much more plausible when he no longer needs to pin The Deadman to win. In fact, with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in his corner for a No DQ match, the two time WWE Champion doesn’t even need to do any heavy lifting while his OC goons do his dirty work of rolling Taker into a casket and slamming the lid shut.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens on the next Raw, but it should be an interesting segment to watch.
