WWE: A two night WrestleMania 36 is the smart call this year
WWE just announced that WrestleMania 36, without a crowd, will be a two night event and honestly, in light of COVID-19, this is the best call they could’ve possibly made.
In case you missed it, WWE have revealed that on top of Rob Gronkowski becoming the host for WrestleMania 36, the bigger news is that this crowdless Mania is going to be a two night event, similar to how Wrestle Kingdom had its own two night event this year for the first time ever.
Although, obviously, in WWE’s case, the two night event announcement came under much different circumstances, but in light of those circumstances, this was the smart, ideal call from the company.
First off, as a response to the Coronavirus, it is just simply a safer, healthier option. WWE have already taken precaution by removing the crowd as a factor, but there is still the factor of packing a large roster of both wrestlers and staffers for eight hours straight.

Splitting the card in half, only a select few members of the roster and staff need to be available one day at a time, which also allows a day in between both shows to clean and sanitize the area before Night 2 commences.
Speaking of the hours, I also assume that this means the show will be cut in half as well. Instead of forcing us to not only watch a crowdless WrestleMania for eight hours, but also forcing their workers to work that same amount of time, I’d imagine Mania is going to be split into three or four hours a night.
This will not only be easier for those working the show, but also for us at home. Hell, even with a packed arena, most of us tend to complain about Mania being too long anyway. To get a shorter, more condensed WrestleMania not once, but twice in one weekend sounds ideal.
All things considered, WWE continue to make the best out of a crappy situation and honestly, should be commended for their efforts thus far. When WWE do badly with anything, we’re always quick to jump down their throats for a dumpster fire (and rightfully so), but when they do something good or smart, it doesn’t hurt to give them kudos for once.
