1. Rhea Ripley

The first potential option is walking into night two of WrestleMania 36 as the reigning and defending NXT Women’s Champion. At only 23 years of age, Rhea Ripley has already racked up an impressive resume. She had strong performances in the 2017 and 2018 Mae Young Classic, and went on to become the inaugural NXT UK Women’s Champion.

Moving to the main NXT brand in August of 2019, Ripley had only suffered two losses while in NXT UK. She immediately put her focus on then-NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, upsetting her team at NXT TakeOver: WarGames despite a 4-on-2 disadvantage. Ripley also led Team NXT to victory at Survivor Series, last eliminating Sasha Banks.

On December 18, 2019, Ripley carried her momentum into an amazing performance where she ended the 416-day reign of NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler. It was a huge moment for the young competitor, and she’s carried that title all the way to WrestleMania 36, where the same person she defeated for that title came up short against “The Man.”

Whether Ripley loses against Charlotte Flair, or holds onto the title longer, she can’t be NXT Women’s Champion forever. When Rhea Ripley does lose the title, she could absolutely turn her attention to ending yet another record-setting reign by targeting “The Man” Becky Lynch.
