WWE June 2020 Power Rankings: Randy Orton Has Reached Another Level of Greatness
By Mark Justice
5.) Bobby Lashley
Bobby Lashley was vital to the main event scene on Monday Night Raw this month due to his WWE Championship feud against Drew McIntyre. Unfortunately, that did not result in a championship victory for him. As a consolation prize for Bobby Lashley’s failure to capture the WWE Championship from Drew McIntyre, his next target is conveniently Apollo Crews’ United States Championship, which he will very likely capture this summer.
4.) Apollo Crews
Apollo Crews is the current United States Champion. Since dethroning Andrade, he has been a fighting babyface champion, making the championship more prestigious than it has ever been in recent memory. Although his title reign may come to an abrupt end at the hands of Lashley, he held the fort in Raw’s mid card and has proved that he belongs in the big leagues with the sharks.
3.) Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins is the ‘leader’ of Monday Night Raw. He is no Messiah but his recruitment work has been honorable, to say the least. He has been making young stars, like Buddy Murphy and Austin Theory, feel more important on the red brand. He has also been making Dominick Mysterio’s debut in the WWE as well as Rey Mysterio’s retirement from the WWE feel important.
2.) Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre is the current WWE Champion. He has been slaying WWE superstars left and right, as he should. His championship matches have been excellent and his mic work has been at the main event level. When it comes to his feuds, there are missing elements that would hype up his matches more efficiently. However, that is more of a booking problem than his problem. His current feud with his former tag partner, Dolph Ziggler, which should exceed expectations. Their history together should naturally evoke some riveting, show-stealing in-ring psychology for their PPV match at WWE Extreme Rules 2020.
1.) Randy Orton
While Drew McIntyre is the WWE Champion and face of Raw, Randy Orton is the top heel on the flagship show. He has an ‘edge’ over McIntyre because he is legitimately the center of attention in the show and for good reason. Orton did not just bring back the ‘Legend Killer’ gimmick. Back then, Orton was not a legend. Now, he is a legend and has now reached another level of greatness by slaying those legends (e.g. Edge, Christian, Big Show) until he is the only one left.
Once he is the only legend left, he will be the only ideal superstar to put over young talent, such as WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and even Tomasso Ciampa from NXT.
While defeating Edge at WWE Backlash 2020 solidified Orton as the greatest wrestler in the WWE, the age of Orton will be rekindled once Orton defeats Big Show at WWE Extreme Rules 2020. Its only a matter of time until the WWE Universe remembers: 99% is good enough but not good enough to defeat Randy Orton.
