Matt Riddle vs. King Corbin [Grudge Match]

Result: Matt Riddle (via pinfall)

Rating: 3.0/5.0 Stars

Grade: C+, This match was quite dry. It had a weak start and picked up a little bit, but still dry overall. Nonetheless, it was inevitable that Riddle would win as Corbin’s PPV losing streak continues.

Matt Riddle attempted some of his patented submission holds but Corbin gained control in the early stages of this match with multiple clotheslines. Riddle executed a swift roundhouse kick, broton bomb, and a running kick for the nearfall. His momentum only went so far because Corbin went back to his clotheslines.

He delivered a Deep Six for the nearfall. He decided to talk some trash to Riddle, but Riddle locked Corbin in the triangle. Riddle delivered the Bro to Sleep and the Brosault for the pinfall and the victory for his main roster PPV debut. This match was probably the weakest showing of the night, by far, which should be to no one’s surprise.

Nonetheless, this victory was ‘payback’ for the times Corbin eliminated him from the Men’s Survivor Series match as well as the Royal Rumble. This victory could be the sign of big things for Riddle in the mid card division, at least, but not the main event picture just yet. He still has a lot more to do before he is truly the bro who runs the show.
