WWE Smackdown Results: Big Debuts And Roman’s Next Step Revealed

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown is the first since the big WrestleMania main event between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. Tonight’s show will see the first “Happy Talk”, featuring Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss, since Corbin’s loss to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania. We will also find out what’s next for Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.

The show starts off with a video package recapping WrestleMania last weekend. After the video package, Kayla Braxton is seen in the ring welcoming the fans to Friday Night SmackDown. She then introduces Ronda Rousey and Rousey makes her way down to the ring.

Braxton asks Rousey about her match with Charlotte on Saturday, before showing a highlight video of the match. Rousey responds and says that she tapped Charlotte out, but she still lost. She says that to be the best in the world, you have to beat everyone twice on your worst day.

Rousey says she beat Charlotte once, not twice. Braxton asks Rousey what her next step is. Rousey says she wants a rematch with no excuses and no loopholes. At WrestleMania Backlash, Rousey challenges Charlotte to an “I Quit” match.

Charlotte shows up on the big screen and says that quitting isn’t in her DNA. Charlotte says even though she felt the armbar, she didn’t lose. She says “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” is a myth and Rousey can’t win when it matters.

Charlotte then denies Rousey’s challenge and tells her to get to the back of the line. Rousey says this fight is going to happen and she will turn Charlotte’s elbow backward and will force her to scream, “I quit.”

WWE then shows a match recap video from New Day vs Sheamus and Ridge Holland from WrestleMania. Butch makes his SmackDown debut next against Xavier Woods. Sheamus and Holland are seen hyping up Butch in the back.

Butch (w/ Sheamus and Ridge Holland) vs Xavier Woods (w/ Kofi Kingston)

Butch makes his entrance first, accompanied by Sheamus and Ridge Holland. Xavier Woods makes his way out next, accompanied by Kofi Kingston. The two cut a promo while they make their way down to the ring. Woods says that tonight is technically the season opener so all records are reset.

Kingston says that the score between them and Sheamus/Holland/Butch is now zero to zero. Woods says that Butch’s aunt said that she can’t wait to see Woods whoop Butch in the middle of the ring. The match finally starts and Butch charges at Woods.

Woods moves out of the way, and the two enter in a collar-elbow tie-up. However, Butch is able to take Woods down with a clothesline. Butch takes over the match when he counters a charging Woods. Butch uses some joint manipulation to take the fight to Woods.

Woods is able to get back into the match though and he sends Butch to the outside. Woods goes for a high-risk move, but Butch moves out of the way and knocks out Woods with an elbow. Butch regained the momentum in the match from this.

Woods is able to use his speed to get back into the match. However, Butch hits Woods with a right and goes for the pinfall, but gets just a two-count. Butch sets up Woods for a running kick, but Xavier reverses with a small package pin and gets the three-count.

Winner: Xavier Woods

After the match, Holland and Sheamus run into the ring and chase New Day out. They are then seen trying to calm Butch down. Butch starts hitting both Sheamus and Holland before going into the corner and sitting down on the top rope with his arms crossed, like a toddler having a temper tantrum. Yes, this is Pete Dunne’s new character.

WWE then airs a video package of Johnny Knoxville and Sami Zayn’s match from WrestleMania Sunday. Sami Zayn is then seen complaining to Adam Pearce. Zayn says what he had to deal with at WrestleMania was not fair for him. He says that he is one of the best and has been reduced to a laughing stock.

He says he wants his respect back and then says he wants a match with the next person who walks through the door. Drew McIntyre makes his way through the men’s locker room door and Zayn says the next person. Pearce says the match is official and takes place tonight between Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre.

A producer then gives Pearce a note and after looking at the note, Pearce looks at him and tells him to tell Ronda that he can’t meet with her right now. Ludwig Kaiser, Marcel Barthel’s new character, is seen on the entrance ramp and he introduces Gunther to SmackDown.

Gunther vs Joe Alonzo

Gunther faces a local competitor in a match on SmackDown. Gunther quickly sends Alonzo with a hip toss before hitting him with chops in the corner. He hits a big boot on Alonzo and is completely in control of the match.

Gunther hits more chops on Alonzo and follows it up with a body slam. Gunther hits Alonzo with a powerbomb and stacks him up to pin him for the three-count in a very quick and dominating match.

Winner: Gunther

Braxton is seen interviewing a debuting Raquel Rodriguez, aka Raquel Gonzalez from NXT. Raquel says they have never seen anything like her. Los Lotharios interrupt the interview and introduce themselves and welcome Raquel to SmackDown. They want to welcome her with a kiss and she says not a chance.

Happy Corbin makes his way to the ring with Madcap Moss. Moss looks happy and pumped up while Corbin looks depressed coming off his loss against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania. Corbin grabs a mic and says this was supposed to be the happiest happy talk ever.

He says they should be celebrating his victory over McIntyre at WrestleMania right now. Corbin says he’s been doing a lot of self-reflecting. Corbin says that the only person to blame for his loss to Drew and that man is Madcap Moss. Moss apologizes and says he just got very excited.

Corbin says Moss took WrestleMania weekend and made it all about him. Corbin says that Moss forgot his place and his place is to tell him a joke. Moss tells a couple of jokes and Corbin says they are both terrible. Corbin says Moss should be ashamed of himself.

Corbin says he will give Moss one final chance at telling him a funny joke like his job depends on it. Moss then says a joke that’s a diss at Corbin. The fans are firmly behind Moss and Corbin attacks Moss from behind. Moss fights back and throws Corbin into the table on the set of “Happy Talk.”

Moss throws Corbin all around the ring and to the outside. Corbin drives Moss into the barricade. Moss slams Corbin’s head on the announce table and takes his frustrations out on Corbin. He finally sends Corbin packing and destroys the set of “Happy Talk.”

Jinder Mahal is seen backstage getting mad at Adam Pearce. Mahal wants Ricochet and wants the Intercontinental Championship. Rousey interrupts and Mahal leaves. Rousey asks if she gets her “I Quit” match, Pearce says he will find out by tomorrow and Rousey looks pissed.

Drew McIntyre vs Sami Zayn

Drew McIntyre makes his way out to the ring first, followed by Sami Zayn. The bell rings and Zayn runs to the outside to psych himself up. Zayn re-enters the ring before leaving again. McIntyre follows him to the outside and beats him up on the outside.

McIntyre throws Zayn back into the ring and continues to remain in control of the match. McIntyre then fights more with Zayn on the outside before throwing Zayn back into the ring. Zayn rolls out the other side and walks away, but McIntyre chases him up the ramp and brings him back down to the ring.

McIntyre calls for the Claymore Kick and attempts it but Zayn rolls out of the ring and runs through the crowd and gets counted out in a quick match.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, McIntyre grabs his sword and points it at Zayn. A video package is then shown featuring Pat McAfee’s WrestleMania match against Austin Theory and what happened next with Vince McMahon and Stone Cold.

McAfee says he had so many different emotions and a childhood dream that came true. He says he will think about that for the rest of his life. A video is shown of Lacey Evans and features Evans talking about how her life wasn’t easy at all. Evans says that she learned to adapt and overcome from the situations that she was placed in.

Sasha Banks (w/ Naomi) vs Liv Morgan

Sasha Banks makes her way out to the ring first, accompanied by Naomi, who’s on commentary for this match. Liv Morgan is seen in the back getting interviewed and Morgan said she came to beat up Sasha Banks. Liv Morgan then makes her entrance.

The match starts with a collar-elbow tie-up between the two women. Sasha hits Morgan with a kick to the gut and gains momentum early on. However, Morgan counters and sends Banks into the middle turnbuckle.

Banks is able to quickly counter Morgan’s finishing move with a backstabber and sends Morgan to the outside. Banks throws Morgan back into the ring and continues to remain in control of the match. Banks hit the Three Amigos on Morgan, followed by a frog splash for a very close two-count.

Natalya and Shayna Baszler are seen watching the TV in the back. Morgan hits a knees-to-the-face move on Banks and both women are down. Banks attempts a backstabber, but Morgan was able to counter with an elbow. Morgan makes her way to the top, but Sasha hits her with a knee and goes to the top rope with her.

Banks hits a superplex on Morgan but Morgan pins Banks out of nowhere for the three-count ahead of her match Monday Night on Raw for the women’s tag titles.

Winner: Liv Morgan

After the match, Roman Reigns makes his entrance down to the ring. As always, he is accompanied by The Usos and Paul Heyman. A highlight video is shown of the biggest WrestleMania match of all time between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.

Roman says that Smackdown and the Universal Championship weren’t enough, so he took Raw and the WWE Championship also. Reigns says he can’t do much more. He did it all, but he says there is still a lot left for the bloodline to achieve.

Reigns says that his cousin’s only have two titles. He says it’s time that they unify the tag-team championships as well. Reigns sends The Usos to Raw to get the Raw Tag Team Championships as well. He says the Bloodline will have all the gold soon.

Shinsuke Nakamura interrupts him and makes his way down to the ring. Nakamura grabs a microphone and enters the ring. As Nakamura goes to speak, Reigns covers his microphone with his hand and says that he understands how he feels.

Reigns says that he understands how Nakamura feels after losing a partner and says that the island of relevancy is a place of love. He then gives Nakamura a hug and Nakamura looks shocked. Nakamura gets taken out by a double superkick from the Usos. Smackdown ends with the Bloodline standing tall.
