WWE SmackDown: Drew McIntyre Stands Tall When All Hell Breaks Loose

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown will be jam-packed. We will see Madcap Moss and Angel go one-on-one. We will also see Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair sign the contract for their “I Quit” match at WrestleMania Backlash. Following his win over Jimmy last week, Riddle faces Jey Uso one-on-one tonight, and Drew McIntyre faces Sami Zayn in a lumberjack match.

The show kicks off with Adam Pearce standing in the middle of the ring with a table and chairs around him. He welcomes the fans to SmackDown and introduces Charlotte Flair. Charlotte makes her way down to the ring to a lot of boos from the audience. Pearce then introduces Rousey and Rousey makes her way down the ramp.

When both women are in the ring they sit at the table and Pearce says he just needs two signatures on the contract. However, the contract is missing and Gulak brings out the contract for Pearce. Pearce announces Gulak as his new intern. Gulak says he is super pumped for the opportunity and reveals that he has a PowerPoint presentation for the “I Quit” match.

Charlotte tells him to shut up, and Rousey sticks up for him. The fans chant that Charlotte tapped out, and she says she was fixing her bra. She explains the rules of an “I Quit” match to Rousey, and says that she has been fantasizing about all the ways she’ll make Rousey quit. She says she’ll always find a way to win, and that WrestleMania Backlash will be no different.

Charlotte then signs the contract before passing it to Ronda. Charlotte then reminds Rousey that she beat her at WrestleMania. Rousey says that this time there won’t be a referee to save Charlotte. She says that Charlotte will abandon the SmackDown Title and will say “I Quit” at WrestleMania Backlash.

Charlotte then flips the table to reveal a kendo stick was underneath. She hits Rousey twice but Rousey counters and unloads on Charlotte with the kendo stick. Gulak breaks it up and takes the stick from Rousey. Rousey hits Gulak with her finishing move and locks in the armbar on Gulak. Rousey signs the contract as she has the armbar locked in on Gulak, to make the match official.

A video is then shown recapping Butch, Sheamus, and Ridge Holland attacking The New Day last week. The New Day make their way out to the ring after and Xavier Woods is sporting a new robe in his entrance attire. Woods is scheduled to go one-on-one with Butch.

Xavier Woods (w/ Kofi Kingston) vs Butch (w/ Ridge Holland and Sheamus)

Butch makes his way out next, accompanied by Ridge Holland and Sheamus. The bell rings and Butch immediately charges at Woods, but Woods counters for a pinfall for a two-count. Woods hits Butch with some chops and quickly takes the fight to Butch.

Woods hits a clothesline on Butch turning him inside out and pins him for a two-count. Butch is able to hit a forearm to the face of Woods and is now on the offense. Butch targets the arm of Woods and uses some joint manipulation to torture Woods.

Butch sends Woods’s face into the middle turnbuckle. Woods is able to fight back into the match sending Butch to the outside. Woods and Kofi go face-to-face with Ridge Holland and Sheamus on the outside. Butch jumps over Holland and Sheamus to take out Woods and regain control of the match.

Butch continues to subdue Woods and keep him on the mat with his joint manipulation style. Woods battles back into the match by hitting punches and chops on Butch. Butch is forced to cover up against the ropes. Woods hits a clothesline on Butch and follows it up with a senton.

Woods goes for a move, but Butch grabs his ear and regains control of the match. Butch hits him with a big move for a two-count. Woods out of nowhere hits a DDT and rolls up butch for a three-count.

Winner: Xavier Woods (w/ Kofi Kingston)

After the match, Holland and Sheamus enter the ring and Butch flips out again. Butch hits the turnbuckle and then leaves the ring and throws a security guard over the guardrail. He leaves the arena through the fans and Sheamus and Ridge remain in the ring.

Ricochet is seen in the back talking with Aliyah. Ricochet says it’s an honor to be the Intercontinental Champion, and he wants to be an all-time great. Jinder Mahal interrupts and laughs. Shanky challenges Ricochet to a match.

Ludwig Kaiser is seen on the entrance ramp with a microphone. He gives his introduction for the ring general, Gunther. Gunther makes his way down to the ring for a match.

Gunther vs Teddy Goodz

Gunther quickly takes the fight to Goodz. He holds down Goodz with an armbar. Goodz went for a dropkick but it got swatted away by Gunther. Gunther hits a big boot on Goodz and sends him to the apron. He suplexes him back into the ring from over the ropes and hits him with a chop.

Gunther continues to take the fight to Goodz and locks in a sleeper hold. He turns Goodz around and hits him with a powerbomb for the three-count in a very quick match.

Winner: Gunther

After the match, a recap video is shown for the match between Riddle and Jey Uso. Riddle and Randy Orton are seen backstage. Riddle says he loves coming to SmackDown because he gets to see his best buds from the blue brand.

McIntyre walks in and has a staredown with Orton. Riddle says he and Orton will be lumberjacks in McIntyre’s match with Zayn tonight. McIntyre says that anyone who stands up to The Bloodline’s bullsh*t is good in his book. Orton says he and McIntyre are good. After they leave, Sami Zayn is seen hiding behind a crate.

RK-Bro’s entrance hits and Riddle, accompanied by Randy Orton, makes his way out for the upcoming match between him and Jey Uso. A video is shown of Xia Li, she says she was the protector, but nobody is worthy of her protection anymore, she will now only protect herself.

Riddle (w/ Randy Orton) vs Jey Uso (w/ Jimmy Uso)

Jey Uso makes his way out next, accompanied to the ring by Jimmy Uso. Roman Reigns is seen looking on from his locker room. The match starts off with Riddle using his wrestling background and grounding Jey.

Jey quickly grabs the rope and the referee is forced to break it up. Jey Uso hits a shoulder tackle on Riddle and follows it up with a punch. Jey stays on the attack and sends Riddle into the corner. Riddle counters and hits a kick on Jey following that up with a gut-wrench suplex on Riddle.

Jey quickly counters Riddle and gets back into the match. Jey hit some chops on Riddle but Riddle counters, which forces Jey to roll to the outside to re-group. Riddle goes for a suicide dive, but Jey Uso hits a punch on Riddle, causing him to crash through the ropes.

Jey sends Riddle into the steel steps and hits the back suplex move on the announce table that Orton made famous. Jey remains in control of the match for a good portion of it. However, Riddle starts fighting back with punches and kicks. Riddle sends Jey into the corner and fires himself up.

Riddle hits Jey with a throw and goes for the Bro-ton, but Jey moves out of the way and goes for a back suplex. Riddle lands on his feet and hits him with a big move to ground Jey. Riddle hits the Floating Bro for a two-count.

Riddle attempts a “bro-to-sleep,” but Jey counters for a roll-up for a two-count. Riddle is able to send Jey to the apron and hits the famous Orton DDT. Orton dumps Jimmy Uso on the announce table when Jimmy tries to get involved.

Riddle attempts an RKO on Jey but Jey counters with a neck breaker for a two-count. After a distraction by Orton, Riddle is able to hit a running knee on Jey, but Jey quickly hits a superkick on Riddle. Jey attempts a splash from the top rope, but Riddle lifts his knees and rolls Jey up for the three-count.

Winner: Riddle (w/ Randy Orton)

After the match, Roman Reigns is seen backstage and he looks annoyed. A recap video is shown from Sasha Banks and Naomi’s match with Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan on Monday night. Sasha Banks and Naomi make their way out to the ring to cut a promo.

Kayla Braxton is seen in the ring interviewing Sasha Banks and Naomi. Naomi says they are just getting started with their championship reign. She says she knew what they were capable of together, and that is why they are dominating the women’s tag division.

Sasha says they are trailblazers and history makers. Sasha says that Naomi has had her back since day one, and they have no competition. Naomi says it doesn’t matter who wants the titles next. Natalya and Shayna Baszler interrupt them.

Natalya says Banks and Naomi have never beat them for the tag team championships. Natalya says she is a three-time Guinness world record holder. Shayna says that they will stress and snap every bone in their bodies, limb by limb, and says they are the next women’s tag team champions.

Shayna shoves Sasha and Naomi holds Banks back. Naomi challenges Natalya and Shayna to come and take their championships. Madcap Moss is seen working out backstage. Corbin interrupts and tries to make amends by forgiving Moss.

Moss says that they did share some good laughs, but says there’s no chance that will happen. Moss says that the ship has sailed. We see a hype video for Raquel Rodriguez who is joining SmackDown. Madcap Moss makes his way down to the ring ahead of his upcoming match against one half of Los Lotharios, Angel.

Madcap Moss vs Angel (w/ Humberto)

Angel, accompanied by Humberto, makes his way out to the ring for the match next. They are able to find a girl to kiss for the kiss cam, as always. The match starts off with Moss and Angel locking up. Moss backs Angel up to the corner.

Moss uses his power to take down Angel. Moss blows a kiss at Angel but Humberto tries to distract him. Moss sends Angel over the rope and onto his tag partner. Moss makes his way to the outside and throws Angel back into the ring.

Moss goes to re-enter the ring but can’t due to Humberto holding his leg. Angel hits him with a kick to the head and gains control of the match. However, it is short-lived as Moss hits a shoulder tackle followed by the Punchline to Angel to pick up another victory.

Winner: Madcap Moss

After the match, Corbin jumps Moss from behind. Corbin hits the End of Days on Moss and steals the Andre The Giant Battle Royale trophy. Sami Zayn is seen walking around backstage and he stops at Roman Reigns’ door.

Roman is seen, visibly annoyed. Jey Uso apologizes and says it won’t happen again. Paul Heyman tells Reigns they have a guest to see him. Sami Zayn walks into the room and says he acknowledges him and is a big fan of Roman’s.

Sami Zayn says he is also the locker room leader, and he hears and sees everything that goes on. Zayn then throws Drew McIntyre and RK-Bro under the bus. Zayn says what he needs is to beat Drew McIntyre. He asks Reigns’ for help and says that he would be more than happy to help the Bloodline in return.

When Zayn leaves, Reigns is annoyed and sends the Usos to stop people from talking bad about him on his show. Another Lacey Evans video airs, where we learn more about her life and childhood. The lumberjacks then make their way out to surround the ring for the main event tonight.

It is announced that next week Ricochet defends the Intercontinental Championship against Shanky. There will also be a “Beat The Clock” challenge between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey next week.

Lumberjack Match: Drew McIntyre vs Sami Zayn

Drew McIntyre makes his way out to the ring first. Zayn makes his way out next. The Usos entrance hits and Sami Zayn looks ecstatic. The Usos make their way out to the ring and the bell rings. Sami Zayn rolls outside by the lumberjacks throw him back into the ring.

After a few times of trying to escape, McIntyre throws Zayn into the corner and hits him with chops. He beats him up all over the ring. McIntyre is sent to the outside and the heel lumberjacks beat up McIntyre. The faces and the heels have a staredown before McIntyre heads back into the ring.

Zayn remains in control of McIntyre. Zayn sends McIntyre back to the outside and the heels beat him up some more before sending him back into the ring. Zayn lifts up McIntyre, but out of nowhere, McIntyre lands a Glasgow kiss on Zayn.

McIntyre throws Zayn across the ring and regains control of the match. McIntyre calls for the Claymore Kick, but Zayn rolls outside, the Usos jump RK-Bro and they take them both out, before leaving the arena. All hell breaks loose between the faces and heels.

Zayn tries to run away, but McIntyre stops him this time before throwing him back into the ring. A few heel lumberjacks are able to beat up McIntyre before he heads back into the ring. McIntyre gets up and takes out all the lumberjacks.

While McIntyre takes out the lumberjacks, Zayn runs through the stands again. Adam Pearce comes to the top of the ramp. He announces that next week when Zayn goes one-on-one with Drew McIntyre, it will be inside a steel cage.

Jinder Mahal attacks Drew McIntyre from behind and is helped by Shanky. Shanky and Mahal take the fight to McIntyre, but McIntyre is able to take them both out. McIntyre hits a Claymore Kick on Jinder Mahal and SmackDown ends with Drew McIntyre standing tall.
