Along with the news of a potential Mustafa Ali return, Fightful Select is also reporting that Asuka’s return to television is “imminent.”

According to the report, Asuka’s return is set to happen on the WWE Raw brand. A potential angle involving a “short-term” feud with Becky Lynch is one the potential angle.

WWE is advertising Lynch’s return to WWE Raw this week. She has not been on the show since dropping the title to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 38.

Asuka’s last match was in July at WWE Money in the Bank. She was a part of the women’s ladder match where Nikki ASH came out on top. According to the Fightful report, pitches for Asuka’s return go as far back as January, when it was believed she would participate in the Royal Rumble, but that idea was turned down. Asuka was sidelined back in July due to an injury.

Asuka’s return would be a massive boost to a women’s division that is hurting without its top stars. She and Lynch have a storied history that includes great matches and the touching moment when Lynch revealed her pregnancy to the WWE Universe, vacating the WWE Raw championship to Asuka who just won the 2020 women’s Money in the Bank. Asuka is one of the few women on the WWE roster that is booked with consistent credibility and could grab the attention of fans who are looking for more from the women’s division.
