Axiom should win the WWE NXT North American Championship

The five-way ladder match at NXT Stand & Deliver is a big opportunity to create a new star in Axiom. 

There are several big matches scheduled across WrestleMania weekend. The action already kicked off, and there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming days. One such match is at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday. The five-way match for the NXT North American Championship is a big deal and has the potential to create a featured star for the NXT brand. Looking at what he’s achieved to date, Axiom is the right call to walk out with the victory.

When WWE announced that A-Kid was making the jump from WWE NXT UK to the mainline version of NXT, there was a lot of excitement. It’s understandable that fans had high expectations for someone of his level and what he showed while competing across the pond.

He got off to a quick start with a big win over Kushida, but after picking up multiple losses he was off television by April of 2022. Then came the rebrand as a superhero in July and fans were initially skeptical. Not because of his talent, but because of WWE’s penchant for less-than-good storytelling and character development. But A-kid, now known as Axiom thrived in this role.

Axiom as the underdog champion would work for his build

Thanks to the shift in direction for WWE NXT, Axiom picked up steam. He was given the space to perform as the talent that fans knew he was, and his reception from fans show their appreciation. The story heading into Stand & Deliver is already presenting Axiom as the underdog. He had to beg Wes Lee for an opportunity. Then win a last-chance battle royale to get in. The troupes are there and this ladder match is an opportunity to crown Axiom with a singles championship while keeping the rest of the division strong.

Imagine what could follow. Axiom and Nathan Frazer run it back. Axiom versus Dragon Lee. Axiom versus Tyler Bate or Ilja Dragunov. Or, let’s get really weird and say Axiom versus AJ Styles, Cedric Alexander, Sami Zayn, Rey Mysterio, or anyone else that may pop up on the brand. These are the type of matches that could set the tone for Axiom to become a bigger star within WWE, and one that they can build around for the future.

WWE has a slew of talented performers on the roster that are under the age of thirty. Axiom is one of those individuals and he’s taking part in a big match during WrestleMania weekend. If WWE wants to take some steps toward creating a fan favorite for the future, putting the NXT North American Championship on his waist is the right step.
