BCC versus The Elite has all the makings of the main event feud heading into AEW Double or Nothing.

For the first time in AEW history, the main event of a pay-per-view is up for debate at Double or Nothing. Obviously, it would make sense if MJF defends his AEW World Championship against Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, and Sammy Guevara, but that may not be the best choice.

This past Wednesday on Dynamite we saw the return of ‘Hangman’ Adam Page to complete the four versus four field for the Blackpool Combat Club and the Elite match at Double or Nothing.

Now that Page is back this match feels like the biggest on the card, having four former pay-per-view main eventers in Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, and Adam Page, which is why it deserves the spot to go on last. Along with the main eventers, the BCC versus the Elite story is easily the best in AEW right now.

The storytelling of the Elite over the years has carried AEW at times, and fans are much more invested in this feud than the four pillars match for the AEW World Championship. What can get better than best friends turned bitter rivals, then becoming best friends again to prove they are the best group in wrestling today?

The stipulation of the fans itself probably also encourages fans to stick around for longer watching the show they paid $50 dollars for. If the annual tradition continues, fans will only get to see Anarchy in the Arena once a year, and if Double or Nothing is the only time they can watch a match like this it sure to get more buys.

The story of Hangman’s journey back to be with the Elite again has been long and intensive, and the perfect spot for fans to see his first match back with them is in the main event of Double or Nothing. Unsanctioned violence between the biggest stars and heart and soul of AEW? Sign every fan up to enjoy a main event, that doesn’t feel like it’s only in the final spot because the World Championship is involved.

Despite great efforts by Tony Khan to build up Darby Allin, Jungle Boy, and Sammy Guevara for the pillars four-way, two out of the three (leaving out Darby) still feel like upper-level mid-carders.

The promos leading up to the match at times have been a bit awkward and uncomfortable because the pillars don’t have that much experience yet, and that’s fine. No doubt the match will be great in the ring, just as of right now due to a haltered build feels more like a fun opener to the show.

In terms of show order, it’s always good to have the biggest feeling match go on last, and unless a massive turnaround at next week’s Dynamite that feels like the BCC vs Elite Anarchy in the Arena.
