Women’s wrestling is a draw across the industry. It is time for more promotions to start to give the ladies equal time and opportunity. WWE has struggled in that area, even as it makes strides in keyways. One thing that fans want to see is a sequel to the all-women’s PLE, Evolution. Bayley is 100 percent right in calling for an Evolution 2, saying that now is the “perfect time.”
“I’ve been dying for an Evolution 2, and I think now is the perfect time,” Bayley said while speaking to Adam Barnard of ScreenRant. “Bigger than ever, we have more girls than ever. We can have a freaking back-to-back, two-night show if we wanted to, like WrestleMania. There’s so many girls, so many at NXT, we got this TNA partnership, we got two new titles. What are we doing? Let’s do it!”
There wasn’t a truer statement said today. Across all three brands, WWE has a stacked women’s roster. In the eyes of many, the WWE NXT roster is the best in all of wrestling. Think about the type of card that could be put together. There are so many possibilities. As Bayley said, there’s enough talent for WWE to host a two-night show.
The question is, will they? Unfortunately, the answer is probably no. But it would be interesting if the company tried. WWE is on a strong run from a business perspective. The company continues to sell out major shows, is coming off the start of the Netflix deal, and is seemingly having success at every turn. Putting on an all-women’s event in this business climate and giving it the proper promotion has the potential to be yet another success. WWE is always looking for positive headlines, and to be frank, the organization could use them. Imagine the feedback that would come if the company did book a show featuring its women’s division and it is presented as a massive success.
Think about the card that could be put together. Matches like Rhea Ripley versus Bianca Belair. IYO Sky versus Giulia. Stephanie Vaquer versus Shayna Baszler. There are many opportunities to showcase what these ladies can do after generations of lackadaisical booking. If WWE is ever going to do Evolution 2, this is the roster to do it with.
Bayley called for the WWE women’s roster to get an opportunity to showcase their talent with Evolution 2. Looking at this group across SmackDown, Monday Night Raw, and NXT, there isn’t a wrestling fan in the world who would think this group wouldn’t put on a five-star show. It needs to happen. But will it? The chances do not look promising.
