Bronson Reed gives update on injury
2024 was a big year for several performers across professional wrestling. In WWE, “Big” Bronson Reed caught a wave of momentum that propelled him into an important position on the roster. The squashing of Seth Rollins opened a door of support for Reed, but it looks like that support is going to be on pause for a while. Reed gave an update on his status after WWE Survivor Series: WarGames and it looks like he’s going to be out for a while.
At WarGames, Reed jumped from the top of the cage, attempting to land the Tsunami on Roman Reigns but CM Punk saved the Tribal Chief, causing Reed to crash through the table. Reed was immediately hurt and needed to be helped to the back. On January 5, he took to social media to give an update on his status.
“Let’s clear some things up,” Reed posted on Twitter. “Dirt sheets report ankle fracture or injury. I unfortunately smashed my talus bone completely in half, I had it surgically repaired with screws and fragments taken out. Also had some bone marrow take from my hip and put into my foot.”
He’d go on to update on when fans can hope to see him next.
“Now this means I won’t be at Raw Netflix Premiere, don’t expect a rumble surprise, and the biggest loss is no [Wrestle]Mania. Please keep up with me on social media at this time. Understand I’ve had a serious injury, undergone serious surgery, and have serious implications from that. It’s not merely a fracture!”
Reed’s push in 2024 was making him an interesting candidate to carry a singles title in 2025. It looks like that is off the cards, and his well-being after such a horrible injury is the priority. WWE Monday Night Raw has a wealth of strong heels both at the top of the card and in the mid-card, so a move to WWE SmackDown would have been a good change of scenery for Reed as well.
Here’s to hoping Reed makes a full recovery without any inhibitions to leading a normal, active life. For more news and opinions on all things professional wrestling, stick to Daily DDT.
