NXT Deadline 2024 was a strong show from start to finish. There was a lot to enjoy across the card, including the two Iron Survivor matches. On the women’s side of things, Giulia came out with the victory, setting up her second shot at Roxanne Perez. Looking at the state of the division and WWE, it’s time Giulia took that title to push the WWE NXT women’s division forward.

Giulia overcame Wren Sinclair, Stephanie Vaquer, Zairia, and Sol Ruca to pick up a big victory on the PLE. Now, she’s poised to challenge again for that title that Perez has held since April 6. Perez has done a lot of heavy lifting proving that the NXT women’s division is the best presentation of women’s wrestling in WWE, if not all of wrestling in the eyes of many. Perez’s growth as champion has been a surprising, but refreshing look at what she can do with a new character, showing that she’s ready for the main roster and the expectations that will follow her there.

But it’s time to bring that run to an end. Many thought that Giulia would be the one to do it during the premiere of NXT on the CW Network. WWE made the right call to keep the belt on Perez, while introducing Cora Jade back into the fold. It was a good move that lit a spark of interest in the division, while further expanding the main event picture. This time around, however, it’s time to give Giulia the clean victory to set the division on a new course. One that features many of the new faces in the division.

Giulia as champion opens the door to several new feuds right out of the gate. Giulia versus Vaquer has the heat to carry much of WWE programming. They are two women that are familiar with each other, and two the of the best women’s workers on the brand. WWE keeps hinting at their feud through all these face offs and the fans responds with excitement.

The list doesn’t end there. Think about Giulia against Zairia, Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker, Lola Vice, and several others on the roster. There are endless matches against solid workers and characters that would keep fans engaged in this division. Giulia has been presented as a top-level performer the minute she was signed to the company. Giving her a year-long run as champion would further cement that ideology. Along with that, starting that run by having her defeat Roxanne Perez at New Year’s Evil is the right move. The door for Roxanne Perez would be wide open, and Giulia’s start at the top would be well underway.

Roxanne Perez’s time at the top of the WWE NXT Women’s Division should come to a close in a few weeks. New Year’s Evil is the right time to see Giulia take the championship from “The Prodigy” and take the steps to lead this division toward more success in 2025.
