Cody Rhodes needs his own team of Avengers to topple The Bloodline

If Cody Rhodes is going to defeat The Bloodline he's going to need to enlist some help from those that hate that group as much as him.

The February 12 edition of WWE Raw saw an important moment in the development of Cody Rhodes heading into WrestleMania 40. Seth Rollins called him out and made it clear. After fighting his way back to the main event for the second year in a row, Rhodes needs to come up with a different plan. A plan that will help him fight back against the multiple foils sent his way from The Bloodline. Rollins offered his abilities as his “shield” but there’s still a need for more. Now is the time for Cody Rhodes to go on his own quest to put together his own version of The Avengers to topple The Bloodline.

There are so many individuals that have been hampered by Roman Reigns and his family. Sami Zayn. Kevin Owens. LA Knight. Even Drew McIntyre has a legit claim against Reigns and company. Rhodes is going to need backup if he’s going to win at WrestleMania 40.

After the segment with Rollins, there was a brief moment backstage where Rhodes spoke with Zayn, he’s someone that could easily have a bone to pick against The Bloodline. Jey Uso is another that should have a part in the toppling of an empire. Especially since it is an empire that he built. His inclusion and eventual separation has made him one of the most over babyfaces in the company and that resonates each week on WWE Raw.

McIntyre made a joke reference to how the last few years of Regins’s matches have played out. He finds himself fighting from underneath, then one of his family members gets involved. Spear. 1-2-3. Seeing a group of wrestlers ban together as they brawl with The Bloodline, just before Rhodes gets the win would be a massive moment - akin to Bret Hart defeating Yokozuna or Lex Luger beating Hollywood Hogan years ago. Even McIntyre could play a part in his own way, further cementing his place as the best tweener in professional wrestling today.

What’s also interesting is taking this route immediately puts Rhodes in a debt to the men that helped him. Everyone that stepped up when he needed him now has a claim to an eventual storyline. The angle is right there for the taking. WWE would have the new face of the company and several top contenders ready to see him through the first few chapters of a title run.

It took Captain America ten years and multiple movies before he yelled “Avengers Assemble” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cody Rhodes is in a similar position heading into WrestleMania 40 and if he’s going to overcome the odds he will need to put together a band that can do the job none of them could do on their own.
