WWE: Logan Paul Will LOSE His Championship To Cody Rhodes
By Mark Justice
Logan Paul won his first U.S. Championship in WWE against Rey Mysterio back in November. He only had two title defenses in the past six months. He retained the U.S. Title against Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble and retained the U.S. Title against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 40. Due to the lack of title defenses and rare appearances, it is clear that a part-time mid-card champion will not work effectively in the WWE. Despite his social media appeal as an influencer, it is safe to say that Logan Paul's title reign has gone stale and run its course in 2024.
With that being said, the following will focus on the three top contestants to dethrone Logan Paul on the road to WWE SummerSlam 2024.
Dark Horse: AJ Styles
AJ Styles already lost his World Championship opportunity against Cody Rhodes at Backlash and proceeded to get eliminated in the King of the Ring Tournament by Randy Orton. Since he broke away from The O.C. for now and is no longer in a faction or tag team, the only title on SmackDown left for him to pursue would be the U.S. Title. This title would serve as a consolation prize for his prior losses and help solidify his recent heel run. Styles also has the credibility and experience to bring prestige back to the U.S. Title that has lost its luster since Austin Theory won it from Rollins in 2022.
(3) LA Knight
LA Knight is still over with the WWE Universe, but he has lost some steam lately. Although LA Knight picked up a huge WrestleMania 40 victory over AJ Styles, WWE has failed to capitalize on that momentum with a title opportunity, whether it be the World Title or the U.S. Title. Instead, LA Knight was relegated to a house show event for Round 1 of the KOTR Tournament and is on the verge of losing in the quarterfinals to Tama Tonga. It is clear that WWE has failed to strike while the iron was hot with him back in 2023, and the U.S. Title would be his best bet to regain that momentum in 2024.
(2) Solo Sikoa
Solo Sikoa is quite frankly a viable option on SmackDown to win the U.S. Title as a methodical way to solidify his leadership of the new Bloodline. They have been manipulating Paul Heyman and earning victories over top talent like Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, as was done at Backlash in this year in what was a show-stealing Street Fight. Due to their momentum and storytelling, it's only a matter of time until they start winning gold. They are not yet ready for the World Title, but Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa (a.k.a. Guerrillas of Destiny) can target the tag titles while Sikoa targets the U.S. Title.
(1) Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes is set to battle Logan Paul next in a "winner takes all" title vs. title match. There is no chance in hell that Logan will win both the World Title and the U.S. Title in this life or the next life. The goal here is clearly to assure that Cody achieves his Grand Slam in the WWE since the U.S. Title is the only major title that has eluded his career. This booking decision is unwise for Cody's babyface appeal, as the pro wrestling fanbase will easily turn on Cody for being over-pushed for two titles. However, Cody's U.S. Title reign will be transitional, just like it was for Seth Rollins back in 2015.
