WWE Has Stopped Numbering WrestleMania – Why?

You would not think that numbering WrestleMania would be a problem, right? Well, somebody has put a stop to it.

More from WrestleMania

Ever since WrestleMania started thirty years ago, it has always been numbered so the events can be distinguished. It would seem logical to do this, right?

Well, according to F4WOnline, via Wrestling Inc., this will no longer be the case.

"WWE is reportedly no longer branding WrestleMania with numbers, at least with the logo. Instead, symbols are being used to distinguish each event. It was announced last week that WrestleMania will come to AT&T Stadium in Texas on April 3, 2016 and “32” is nowhere to be seen on the logo. It instead features a star to represent the “Lone Star State.” On top of that, the logo for this year’s WrestleMania features a “Play” button. to represent Silicon Valley, which is near Levi’s Stadium, in Santa Clara, California. This is according to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, who said on Wrestling Observer Radio today that the events are no longer being branded with numbers “because Vince [McMahon] thinks it makes it sound too old.”"

Yep, it’s because it sounds too old. Of course!

This really makes absolutely no sense and once again shows how out of touch Vince McMahon is in the wrestling business. I have never heard anybody say “Wow, why is WWE using numbers for WrestleMania? It makes it sound really old.” Come on, Vince.

The numbers are used to distinguish each event, just like what the NFL does with the Super Bowl. I guess they could just refer to it by year, but that’s ridiculous. Are they not going to do anything big when we get to WrestleMania 40 in 2024?

Hopefully this does not last beyond this year and next year, since the logo for WrestleMania 32 has already been unveiled without the roman numeral.

Does this continue to make you think that Vince McMahon is out of touch?
