Braun Strowman Should Be WWE’s Next Big Thing

Since the WWE Draft, Braun Strowman has made a big change in direction. We look at how he can be the next big monster for the company.

Braun Strowman was the big, green, monster of the Wyatt Family. Alongside Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan, he was the huge beast that everyone was terrified of. Then we got the WWE Draft and he was set free from the Wyatt’s.

When Wyatt and Rowan were drafted to SmackDown, you’d have been forgiven for expecting Strowman with them too. But he was chosen by Raw and everyone wondered what he would end up doing on his own, what with him looking pretty green in the ring during his sporadic matches.

Strowman was something of an unknown quantity. Prior to his August 2015 debut as a member of the Wyatt Family, Strowman had been training at the WWE Performance Centre. Having never appeared on NXT TV, the former professional strongman made a big early impact on the main roster. A couple of tag matches at pay-per-views got him rolling. Before a decent run in the Royal Rumble which was ended by Brock Lesnar. Braun Strowman was booked as the huge monster who struck fear into everyone.

When Strowman was drafted to Raw, nobody had any idea what direction his career would take next. What we’ve seen in the following weeks has been something rather remarkable.

Braun Strowman has become the giant, power packed, monster who makes short work of a different “local wrestler” on each episode of Raw. Prior to these squash matches, we’ve seen Byron Saxton interview the hapless local guy who we know is about to get destroyed by the six-foot-eight, 375lb beast. That has made a refreshing change to the biggest weekly TV show in WWE.

So far the matches haven’t lasted very wrong, consisting of a couple of power moves, a Reverse Chokeslam and an easy three count for Strowman. Showing off his ridiculous power and strength, without him having to take part in a long match every week, can only build The Black Sheep’s character to becoming one of the top stars on Raw.

Right now WWE is missing a guy who is the impressive specimen that Strowman shows off every week. In the past we’ve seen men like Kane, The Undertaker, The Big Show and more fill out that role, but right now nobody really ticks the boxes that they did. With a little bit of patience, and a whole lot of squash matches, Braun Strowman can be that man.

If Strowman is allowed to build upon what we have already seen, then there is no reason why he couldn’t become a big deal in WWE. In the next couple of years, it’s not impossible to think that Strowman could become a top contender for the championships in WWE. If he were to continue on his current path then he could even find himself holding the WWE Championship in the future.
