Is WrestleMania 31 the right time for Seth Rollins to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase?

More from WrestleMania

With WrestleMania 31 taking place in 8 days, there will be a lot of topics up for debate. Some of them for this year and ones that are still being discussed from last year.

This topic up for debate will be on an issue that could arise in this year’s main event: Should Seth Rollins cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase?

Check out what we had to say below!

Callum’s Take: WrestleMania is a time for shocking moments absolutely, and the Money in the Bank briefcase has yet to be cashed in on the Grandest Stage of Them All despite its prestige. It seems like an ideal opportunity to give this show a lasting impression and a unique edge. Seth Rollins has also proven in his year as a top heel the potential to carry a main event feud and be the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

However, WrestleMania is a show that is often a conclusion to the hottest rivalries running throughout the year. Although professional wrestling has no off-season, this PPV is usually the end of a year’s worth of angles and the beginning of a new era. As such, it is more likely to look to send the fans home happy with a traditional feel good ending, like any movie’s final act should. Lasting memories of the heel coming out on top don’t occur to often.

  • The most memorable main event of all-time between Stone Cold and The Rock featured a heel victory, so there is precedent. And quite frankly if Roman Reigns does come out victorious in his match, Rollins cashing in will be the happy ending for plenty of fans in the audience and watching at home. There are plenty of positives and negatives that could arise. But realistically, it might be a risk worth taking, as that could be the most amazing impact Rollins could make in cementing his place as the Future of the WWE.

Jesse’s Take: There are so many factors here: does Brock resign? Is Roman ready? Will Rollins’ feud with Orton end smoothly?

In order for Rollins to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, it has to be the perfect storm. And, as of late, it doesn’t seem like it is; he’s looked really weak in his feud with Orton and doesn’t appear to be gaining any ground with the WWE Universe.

If things don’t change next week then Rollins shouldn’t cash in his briefcase at WrestleMania.

Sherron’s Take: Yes, WrestleMania would be the right time for Seth Rollins to cash in the Money In The Bank briefcase and become WWE Champion. Rollins has been involved in almost every major story-line for well over a year. Now that he’s feuding with Randy Orton, that secures his spot in the main event for at least a few months if World Wrestling Entertainment decides to continue this feud after WrestleMania. He’s proving time and time again that he’s ready to be the number one man in the company and as a big Seth Rollins fan I think Mr. Money In The Bank cashing in his briefcase and walking out of WrestleMania the WWE Champion is best for business.

Rob’s Take: I would love to see Seth Rollins cash in his briefcase to close out WrestleMania. It would be an incredibly bold move on WWE’s part to close out the show with such a memorable moment.

Vince McMahon always likes to have that one big moment at the show of shows (Steve Austin turning heel, The Undertaker’s streak ending). He may see that moment as Sting wrestling on this year’s card, but Rollins cashing in would really get people talking.

While WrestleMania is the right time for this to happen, I don’t think it will occur. The heels rarely ever close out WrestleMania. Even when they do get a win, the babyface usually gets the last word. With Rollins cashing in, there is no way Roman Reigns could get the last say in the matter. If WWE made him look like Superman and halt the cash-in, they risk causing an even worse fan backlash against Reigns.

WWE is not going to ruin their “future face of the company’s” WrestleMania moment whether it is too early or not. It would be an upset for Rollins to walk out as champion.
