WWE WrestleMania 32: Match Card Projections

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match
John Cena (c) vs. Roman Reigns
John Cena will get his 16th World Championship reign at some point and it would not be surprising to see that happen this year. This would be done to set up a “Passing of the Torch” match between himself and Roman Reigns – WWE’s next “guy.” If it wasn’t for the crowd reaction that the former Shield man received for the months leading to WrestleMania 31, this match next year would never happen for the belt.
WWE is likely going to give Reigns a big push after losing all the progress they made with him from the past six months. They know they have to do this if they still want him to lead the company into the future. In WWE’s eyes, what better way for the push to culminate than beating Cena for the top title on the grandest stage of them all? Having this happen would almost make too much sense.
The obvious issue with this is the fan reception for Reigns.
We know that WWE doesn’t care about how the fans react to Cena. However, Mr. HLR has a massive fan base, sells plenty of merchandise and is the leader in Make-A-Wish grants. Reigns does not have any of this at the moment and it’s unclear whether he will ever have a huge fan base. He gets booed in just about every arena he goes to, which doesn’t stand well for him. He even got booed on the Raw after WrestleMania, despite losing the night before. Thought the fans would have sympathy for Reigns? Think again, unfortunately.
By this time next year, if Reigns is getting booed out of every arena, this may not happen. Where WWE would go next for a main event remains to be seen.
