Roman Reigns’ Performance at WWE Extreme Rules Should End His Criticism
Roman Reigns vs. Big Show was arguably the match of the night at WWE Extreme Rules. So, should we think differently of the former Shield member?

Going into WWE Extreme Rules last night, who would have thought arguably the match of the evening would be Roman Reigns vs. Big Show? While their Last Man Standing Match won’t be up for “Match of the Year,” it’s hard to argue that it didn’t keep fans invested. Punch after punch and table after table, it kept fans interested.
The expectation was Reigns going over in the victory. While that did happen, he looked like a star in the process.
Throughout the match, we saw the former Shield man have to fight back from being put through tables, getting speared and being punched in the face. However, he persevered every time and got back up. While this sounds like John Cena booking, Reigns showed more than that.
Reigns got put through two tables. Did you hear any harassing chants for him to stay down? No.
He speared Show through the announce table and the barricade, which got a huge reaction from the crowd. Did you hear any boos for that? No. Pretty sure you could hear the “holy” you know what chants.
How about for every time Reigns get up. Did he get booed out of the building? No.
Reigns would end up winning by pinning the table on top of the World’s Largest Athlete for the win. Did you hear any boos for that? No.
Despite this being the normal feisty Chicago crowd, Reigns had the crowd behind him. He only received these boos in the first place because he was being pushed by WWE.
While I have been critical of the 2015 Royal Rumble winner, it’s hard not to be impressed with the work he’s done since that night in Philadelphia. His matches at WWE Fastlane, WrestleMania and Extreme Rules were all arguably the match of the evening. Was he a great technician in any of these? Absolutely not. However, he held his own in each. It’s hard for someone to argue that he put on a bad performance in any of these.
Roman Reigns proved himself last night at Extreme Rules and does not deserve criticism any longer. He may never become the best in-ring worker, but he sure is becoming entertaining.
