WWE SummerSlam 2015: Should Brock Lesnar or Undertaker Win?

facebooktwitterreddit

Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker are set to collide on August 23 at SummerSlam. The match is a sequel to Lesnar’s defeat of The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30. Will Lesnar once again reign supreme over The Undertaker or will The Undertaker complete his journey for revenge?

Make no mistake about it, the main event of SummerSlam will be Brock Lesnar versus The Undertaker.

That would be why WWE wasted no time in building up the match by having The Undertaker cost Lesnar his opportunity at laying claim once again to the WWE World Heavyweight championship at the WWE Battleground Pay-Per-View.

Since the moment that The Undertaker appeared in the ring at Battleground, it was clear that the company was going all-hands on deck in terms of promoting the rematch between the Dead Man and Lesnar.

Now, in traditional WWE booking, a feud would consist of  a face and a heel. That won’t be the case for the feud between Lesnar and The Undertaker. Both Lesnar and The Undertaker appear to be heading into SummerSlam with their face personas in tact. Therefore, it may be difficult to project a winner between Lesnar and The Undertaker.

Stress no longer. The winner of the match between The Undertaker and Lesnar at SummerSlam will be the Beast Incarnate.

The reasoning is rather simple to explain. Lesnar’s booking since his return to the company has been perfect. Lesnar has had successful–success defined by victorious–feuds against Triple H, John Cena, The Undertaker, and CM Punk. In fact, Lesnar has not loss via pinfall since April of 2013 when he lost to Triple H at WrestleMania 29.

Lesnar has been propped up as an unstoppable force in the WWE. Now, in a perfect world, Lesnar was a booked as an unstoppable force only to be defeated by Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31. The idea being Reigns would successfully be over as the next top guy in the company by defeating the company’s unstoppable force. That idea was thrown out the window when Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase at Wrestlemania 31. A scenario that saw Rollins pin Reigns and not Lesnar.

Even after having Lesnar drop the title at WrestleMania 31 and not regain the title at Battleground, WWE has still managed to keep Lesnar’s reputation as the company’s unstoppable force in tact. So all the work that was done to keep Lesnar’s reputation in tact was only done so it could be undone by The Undertaker? The same Undertaker that likely will retire after WrestleMania 32.

Think again.

Lesnar is not going to lose to The Undertaker at SummerSlam. WWE needs Lesnar to defeat The Undertaker at SummerSlam in order to keep his unstoppable force reputation in tact. Because, how else would Kevin Owens get his signature victory as a face persona at WrestleMania 32.
