Mick Foley Says WWE Women Need a Pipebomb

Mick Foley is frustrated with how the WWE women are being used in this Revolution. Find out what he thinks needs to happen.

Following last night’s episode of Raw, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley spoke out about the use of the women on the show.

Foley has always been supportive of the WWE women, most notably the former NXT ones like Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.

Check out part of what Foley had to say on his Facebook page below:

"Quite simply, we need a women’s pipebomb. Stephanie may have kicked off the #DivaRevolution on WWE Raw – but we need a Diva/woman/female competitor to take that ball and run with it. We can’t just gradually be SHOWN the revolution. WE can’t have the revolution EXPLAINED to us. We need one of the participants to make us FEEL it. We NEED that promo that perfectly captures the time and place, the pride and passion of this revolution. We NEED a CM Punk pipebomb."

Foley is correct here. While we’ve seen the women get more TV time and multiple matches on Raw, none of them have cut an extended promo on this “Revolution.” The most we’ve seen is backstage interviews with Renee Young.

The CM Punk pipebomb is one of the more famous WWE moments in recent memory. It arguably put him on the map when he spoke out about his use on WWE programming in “real” fashion.

Foley would go onto say he was embarrassed by what he saw last night:

"As a wrestling fan, I was embarrassed. As a friend of both participants in the match, I was hurt. In my wrestling days, I would have tapped into those feelings of embarrassment and hurt and let it out in a promo. Often, those promos were effective; in a few cases, they even became iconic."

You can look back on so many promos from the days that Foley is talking about (the Attitude Era); Austin 3:16, Chris Jericho insulting Stephanie McMahon, almost every Rock promo, among others.

How about the opportunity given to these men and lack of one to the women?

"But why not take a chance and let one of the women walk out to the ring with that same opportunity I was given? The same opportunity Punk was given…and Austin…and Dusty…and Flair…and Funk – and so many of the masters of the microphone who won us over with their passion, while not giving a damn about grammar, sentence structure, witty retorts and back and forth banter."

Hopefully we’ll get a chance to see the women talk. If they ever are, we’ll really see how the Revolution will work out.
