Johnny Gargano vs. Ethan Page
Result: Johnny Gargano defeats Ethan Page after Page said the words “I Quit.”
Rating: 4.4 out of 5 stars
Page came out to Triple H’s music and got everyone going, as they thought the Game was here.
Gargano attacked Page immediately and put on a cross-face that Page backed out of. Gargano hit a dive through the ropes on Page and took the chair of the guy from multiple times earlier.
Gargano and Page then started going through the arena but the former started throwing punches. Page then took the belt off the referee. Gargano would take it away and slap Page with it multiple times.
Gargano took a pile of chairs and started chucking them at Page, who was on the ground. He threw about about 20 of them and hit a senton on them that looked like it really hurt.
Page and Gargano went further into the crowd with the former attacking. He then hit a big time tornado DDT by using the wall to help him.
Gargano started throwing 20 punches at Page. Then hopped back over the barricade and went into the ring. Fans started handing Gargano chairs and he threw them into the ring. He hit a shoulder block on Page but the next move was blocked as Page smashed a chair on Gargano.
Page then put Gargano’s head through the chair and smacked him into the ring post. He said “Go to hell” when asked if he wanted to quit. Page then yelled at the crowd.
Page started hitting a chair into Gargano’s legs and wedged it between the turnbuckles. Gargano then bounced off the turnbuckle and hit a clothesline along with a spear.
Gargano then appeased the fans and took out a chair from under the ring. Page would hit Gargano as he came into the ring. Page would line up the table but get hit with an enzigur. He got hit with a bicycle kick and superkick. However, Page hit a fall away slam on Gargano through the table! Gargano did not quit.
Page hit a scoop slam onto the chairs. Gargano refused to quit again. As a fan went to give Page his chair, he did the Triple H crotch chop to him. He then hit the running Yakuza Kick on Gargano as the crowd chanted “Ole Ole Ole.”
Page went for the Pedigree but Gargano countered with a back-body drop onto the chairs.
The two began exchanging punches in the middle of the ring. Gargano hit an enziguri and a superkick but Page hit a knockout kick to send both down.
On the apron, Gargano would try to pick up Page, who hit elbows to the back of the neck. Page would pick up Gargano and hit an Edge Crusher onto the chair. Gargano would refuse to quit again.
Page then screamed at a ringside technician to undo the ropes and he listened, dislodging the bottom rope. Page smacked Gargano with a chair.
Page then got a hook but couldn’t attack as Gargano fought back. Page then hit a Pedigree! He would get out another table and put it into the ring. He then picked up a chair and hit Gargano in the head.
Page would set up the table and place Gargano on it. As he went to the second rope, Gargano got up and hit multiple punches. Page then muscled Gargano up but the latter reversed it into a tornado DDT through the table! Page refused to quit.
Gargano got up and started to throw about 30 punches at Page. However, the heel picked him up and slammed up. Page had the referee ask Gargano to quit 3 times. Page then asked Gargano to quit and he continued to stay alive. Gargano said “You’re gonna have to kill me” and spit at him.
Page came back with a big clothesline. He then took out a rope that Gargano has used but tossed it away. However, Page would take the ring rope and go for a choke but Gargano reversed and choked him with it! Page would end up quitting.
After the match, Gargano got on the microphone and said he has one more piece of business to accomplish. He said his path to the EVOLVE Championship starts right now as the broadcast ends for EVOLVE 49.
