WWE Fastlane 2016: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady Should Debut

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady could and should make their long-awaited debut at WWE Fastlane.

Enzo and Cass’ debut seems like it’s been right around the corner for months now. The two have been a team for nearly three years and have brought the house down in NXT time after time. And although they’ve never held the NXT tag team titles, they have been the face of the tag division for the yellow brand since the Ascension were called up. But it may finally be time to take the training wheels off and really throw these guys into the fire.

These two have been ready for the main roster for a long time, and it seems like things are finally lining up nicely for them to make the jump to the big time. So let’s take a look at the perfect storm of events that suggest the realest guys in the room could make a surprise appearance at WWE Fastlane.

First, Enzo and Cass are doing absolutely nothing in NXT. After their heartbreaking loss at NXT TakeOver: London, where everyone in the world figured it was finally their time to win the big one, they’ve been extremely stagnant. All they’ve done since then is throw vague threats toward Dash and Dawson. It feels an awful lot like WWE is just trying to keep these guys on TV without actually involving them in anything, which to me signals that they’re just waiting for the right moment to have them debut. By not engaging them in any storyline, they have as little commitment to NXT as possible when they get called up, so the transition could be pretty seamless, unlike when Kevin Owens debuted while he was still NXT champion.

The New Day are currently in need of challengers for the biggest event of the year, WrestleMania 32, and currently, no one on the main roster seems fit for that opportunity. The Dudley Boyz and Usos are occupied with their mini-feud and they don’t have a match at Fastlane, which means the payoff will likely come at WrestleMania. After that, none of the other teams on the roster are relevant enough to be granted a title shot, especially not on the grandest stage of them all. So who better to come up and challenge the New Day than the hottest NXT tag team of the last two and a half years?

And finally, we have the Cutting Edge Peep Show that is scheduled for Fastlane. This is arguably the biggest clue that Enzo and Cass could debut, since talk show segments are rarely scheduled for pay-per-views unless there is something big planned. It seems like there’s a good chance that Edge and Christian could be hosting the show to formally introduce Enzo and Cass as the New Day’s newest threat, and what a moment it would be. Talk shows never go according to “plan”; there is always some kind of interruption or fight that breaks out. Since Edge and Christian won’t be getting physical anytime soon, it’s basically a guarantee that someone is going to come out and invade the show, so why not Enzo and Cass? It almost makes too much sense.
