Conor McGregor and WWE Could Be a Match Made in Heaven
By Carl Gac
Looking at why Conor McGregor could be a mega star in the WWE, when his UFC career is over.
The UFC currently has one of the hottest properties in the world of sports in their ranks, the Irishman Conor McGregor is the real deal. At UFC 196 McGregor will face Nate Diaz, after his original opponent the UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos was forced to pull out after suffering a broken foot in training. McGregor has built a legacy for himself in the UFC with his bold pre-fight predictions, backing up those predictions in style, his explosive fighting style and his psychology. He is a perfect fit for the world of professional wrestling and he could make the WWE a much more entertaining place.
In the past McGregor has been compared to the Nature Boy Ric Flair. Much like Flair, McGregor is a man who is stylish enough to wear a suit, even whilst coaching on The Ultimate Fighter show. McGregor is a brash and outspoken guy, who knows how to hype a fight, and knows how to come out on top during any verbal jousting. Every time he speaks during a press conference, or pre-fight interview, he draws you in and makes you desperate to see him in the Octagon. Imagine McGregor on the microphone on Monday Night Raw.

McGregor is a man who sells tickets, and always delivers when it matters most. In the world of UFC and WWE, those are two things that matter a whole lot. It’s a little under three years since McGregor made his UFC debut, in that time he has gone from obscurity to the most important mixed martial artist in the world right now. It’s not impossible to call him the biggest star in professional fighting, Conor McGregor is that important to UFC that if he ever made the decision to call it quits in MMA the company would likely suffer from his loss.
McGregor would, in the WWE, be potentially the biggest star the company could have. A man who can sell a match with only his words. A man who would have the heart of a Lion and face anyone at any time and always produce a spectacular match. Someone who brings up memories of a cross between Roddy Piper and Ric Flair. A man who is a class act who will talk his opponent to death before ever actually getting his hands on his opponent.

McGregor will come to a point where he doesn’t need to go through the physical demands of the UFC. Much like the appearances made by Floyd Mayweather, before and during his match with The Big Show at WrestleMania 24, McGregor could ask for whatever money he wanted to make the switch to a WWE ring. Conor McGregor in WWE would bring so much to the sport of professional wrestling. From the big fight atmosphere to the unbelievable promos, to the undoubtedly entertaining matches, Conor McGregor and WWE would be a match made in heaven.
