WWE WrestleMania 32 Predictions: Triple H vs. Roman Reigns

facebooktwitterreddit

A look at the predictions for the WrestleMania 32 match between Triple H and Roman Reigns.

At WrestleMania 32, Triple H will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. The Big Dog became the No. 1 Contender at WWE Fastlane after defeating Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose.

Reigns vs. Triple H was expected to be the main event, but rumors have run rampant about another match taking that spot. It should be noted that this change has not been confirmed.

Obviously WWE knows they have a problem with how poorly fans react to Reigns, but I don’t expect that to change the outcome of the match. Whether they turn him heel after the fact or take the title off him after a month or two, Reigns is probably still going to win at Mania simply because having Triple H continue to hold the title wouldn’t make much sense.

This is going to be the moment that defines the next several months of WWE programming, even more so than Shane’s quest for control of Raw. While that is mainly a storyline issue, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match will show us what’s behind the curtain, as we see if the creative team is still set on making Roman Reigns the top guy in the company. Fan reactions have been split, so it’s curious to see if plans change at WrestleMania yet again. However, this year I think the trigger gets pulled, Reigns wins the title, and he’ll embark on a lengthy run as WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

This has to be the culmination of the Roman Reigns vanity project, and it has to see him win the title but turn heel in the process. With the beatings he’s put on Triple H in the last few weeks, he only looks weak if he then gets beaten in a match with the leader of the Authority. Triple H has split personality problems, he’s the evil Authority guy on Raw but were meant to love him for everything that is NXT, maybe he can turn face in the process of this match and give us an epic double turn. Whatever happens, Reigns walks out with the title, and the crowd boos him out of the building. The perfect way to end the biggest show of the year.

Ever since Seth Rollins cashed in on Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 31, the feeling has been that Reigns’ Wrestlemania moment will come at Wrestlemania 32. Since then, WWE has done nothing to change that feeling. That feeling will now be put to a test on Sunday. Will WWE ignore the criticism and go through with giving Reigns his Wrestlemania moment? Or, for the second straight year, will WWE call an audible?

If WWE calls an audible, then that may be disruptive to Reigns’ career. Reigns has talent. Reigns should be towards the top of WWE’s totem’s poll. But, WWE has gone about the process the wrong way. In his feud with Triple H, Reigns has been booed heavily despite being the babyface. As such, Triple H has received massive cheers. So what happens on Sunday? Reigns is going to win the championship but he will turn heel in the process. There is no need to hurt your brain in trying to determine how it will happen. Just know that Reigns, as a heel, will win the championship on Sunday.

It’s been a long time coming and WWE seems determined to make Reigns the face of the company, so a win is inevitable. Just drink the Kool-Aide, it goes down smooth.

Serious question…is there anyone on the face of this earth who thinks Triple H will win this match? Sure, there is always a 1% chance that WWE pulls some shenanigans and robs Reigns (again) out of his title victory thus wasting his win at the Royal Rumble (again) but I don’t see it happening. For better or worse, WWE is all in with Reigns and they have to know the crowd is going to be extremely vocal in their disappointment with him as the new champion. I won’t be surprised if they have something up their sleeve to try and counter-balance the inevitable flood of negativity but we’ll have to wait and see if it works.

The big question for the main event is this: Is Vince McMahon okay with having his babyface champion booed to the high heavens at the end of the biggest wrestling show of all time? For some reason, by mind is telling me yes. Reigns will walk away as the champion, but not without some shenanigans. What those shenanigans entail, we’ll have to watch to find out.

At this time last year, I said that WWE didn’t have the guts to have Seth Rollins cash in Money in the Bank in the WrestleMania 31 main event. The push for Roman Reigns was moving 100 MPH and had no end in sight. I’m glad I was wrong because we had an all-time great moment occur when Rollins became the champion.

One year later, there is no Money in the Bank looming. However, I don’t think WWE is going to have the guts to turn Reigns heel like everyone wants. It’s a similar situation to John Cena, who hasn’t turned heel in over a decade as WWE’s top face. I’ll see it to believe it if they’ll actually pull the trigger and make Roman a bad guy.

As for the match result, Reigns is going to win. I don’t think there’s a doubt about it. He’s going to get his coronation towards the back end of the show. This match also not being the main event could mean Reigns isn’t turning heel and WWE doesn’t want WrestleMania 32 ending with 100,000 people booing.

This match has been perfect in the build up in every way except for fan reaction. Roman Reigns I think could drop the authorities money out of the top of the arena like Donald Trump did a few years back and still would get booed out of the building. The question is does WWE listen to those fans or do they go ahead with their original plans. The way the story has been told Reigns should turn up the heroic victor, vanquishing the Authority for good, especially if Shane McMahon somehow wins his match, however the fan reaction won’t be what the WWE is looking for.

Make no mistake, the result of this match was determined a long time ago, although most people didn’t expect Triple H to be the one to put Reigns over. Even though the whole Roman Reigns is the next big star thing has been an unmitigated disaster, WWE has invested way too much time and energy in him to lose this match. However, look for a swerve. Reigns wins but he somehow cheats to do it, turning heel in the process.

No matter how hard they try, WWE just can’t get fans to love Roman Reigns the way they want them to. This has been a problem for almost a year now and finally it seems they’re ready to give up. This one is going to be brutal, bloody, and if there’s a suplex that isn’t through a table I’d be shocked. But does it end with a Reigns heel turn and title victory? The signs are definitely pointing that way, which may be why something else will happen. Reigns is likely to win because whether fans like it or not, he is part of this company’s future, but I think the heel turn happens at a later time against someone the fans REALLY love, like say his buddy Dean Ambrose. Not right now.
