WWE: Has Paige Been Ruined by the Divas Revolution?
By Jay Sichler
With The Divas Revolution taking over WWE for the past 9 months, has Paige’s career been plagued and ruined by this revolution?
When Paige made her debut on Raw on the night after WreslteMania 30, she was viewed as the woman that would recreate a dying and fading Divas division in WWE. When she defeated AJ Lee for the Divas Championship that night, the crowd erupted as it finally had a legit female to root for.
Paige became the standard bearer of what a female wrestler should be for the next year and a half. She was over with the crowd and she was viewed as the best female on the main roster. However, after joining the cast of Total Divas, Paige seemed to be viewed differently from both the fans and quite possibly the people backstage.

After being viewed as the savior of the division, the British Diva began to be viewed as just another Alica Fox, Eva Marie, and Rosa Mendes. Although the show helped bring out Paige’s personality and helped develop her character she seemed to receive a bit of a backlash for joining the show. The general stigma is that the girls on Total Divas, are the girls who simply cannot wrestle.

What seemed to make matters worse for Paige was when Becky Lynch, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks all got called up to the main roster on the same night. Instead of having to compete against the Total Divas cast, Paige now had to compete against some of the best female wrestler’s on the planet.
Originally Paige was on the forefront of this Divas Revolution, teaming with both Becky Lynch and Charlotte. However, after breaking up from Becky and Charlotte, Paige has fallen into irrelevancy. While Becky, Charlotte, and Sasha were competing at WrestleMania for the Women’s Championship in one of the best matches on the card, Paige was thrown into a pathetic 10-Diva tag match on the pre-show.

Paige’s irrelevancy continued to show when RAW was in England this past Monday. The last few times she (being a native of England) generally got one of the biggest pops of the night. However, this time, it felt like there was no buzz to her coming down to the ring. Sasha Banks got the biggest pop of the females that night. In a short nine months, Paige went from being one of the main staples of the reemergence of the Women’s division to just being a role player at best.
While I don’t feel at this point Paige has to main event every women’s match or be on every pay per view, she does deserve a lot better than being viewed as another Eva Marie. The 2-time Divas Champion has shown that she can hang in the ring with the best of them and could put on a good match with virtually anyone she works with.

At only 23 years old Paige is still very young and has plenty of time to reemerge as one of the top females in the company. With the Women’s division stacked with talent for the first time in years, building back up Paige as one of the top girls in the division will only make the Women’s division stronger, better and entertaining.
